Hi,

I am using Aftershock S-17 Laptop now. Are there any recommendations on products that I can use to reduce the temperature of the laptop?

Current CPU temp: around 50 degrees without turning on the fans.

maybe reducing another 5 degrees without turning on the fans? this is because, i can feel the heat while using the laptop (especially at the left part of the laptop).

Laptop have limited airflow
The common cooling method is just getting a deck with fan

The most sensible choice is either you reduce the clockspeed or use your fan

Hello!

Aftershocks being a performance laptop with high end specs do run hot.. (much hotter than normal consumee laptops). They do have good fans though. Is there any particular reason why you dont want to turn on the fans?

A laptop cooler will help too. What it essentially does is provide air flow to the base of the laptop which helps.. not alot but by some extent.

A laptop cooler that is inclined also further adds to cooling.

The CPU is always on and if you disable the CPU fan, obviously you going to get heat not being exhaused out from within the machine.

if you say you deliberately power off the fan because of 'noise', in exchange you get heat. So you have to decide do you want less noise and more heat, or more noise and less heat?

For a high performance CPU the heat is unavoidable so you either endure the heat, or you endure the sound of the fan that is working to get rid of the heat.

Even if you buy laptop cooler, the cooler itself also uses a fan, i.e. fan noise.

Another thing to note is that while it is true there exist high end gaming laptops that have quiet fans, most of those laptops are able to achieve it only because their body is huge to dissipate air more easily and hence nowhere near as slim as your S-17. Asus is a prime example of 1 brand whose gaming laptops are like that, they actually purposely design the rear vents (and even the whole body) to be large so that the fan doesnt need to work so hard. And the trade-off there is a 17 inch laptop that weighs 1 kilo more than your 17 inch laptop.

Actually, 50c with the fans set to minimum on on a 47W i7 is actually a very good and safe temperature and most systems, thick or thin, would get something in this area with similar hardware.

You should not have to do anything. As rageruin said, you should be looking at ideal temps expected from your hardware, and the temps you are getting are totally within normal expectations for a 6700HQ cpu (actually on the cool side compared with the 4720HQ from before)

If you want to lower if further, you may want to consider a laptop cooler with the custom positional fans. But that generates noise as chiarh said.
