Recommendation for desktop mini

The reason why I find flexibility in my older larger mATX system is because when components fail e.g. RAM or mobo, I can easily replace the faulty piece.

There's no flexibility in such tiny systems right? Correct me if I'm wrong because it's been so long since I look at buying a system.

cpu is soldered.
so if cpu or mobo kaput is gg.

To make it small, there will certainly be some trade off in terms of upgradability. The motherboard is usually custom sized and something that you can't buy off the shelves. The most flexible "Tiny PC" is the Asrock Desk Mini where you have the flexibility of buying/ replacing your CPU, in addition to the RAM, SSD and WIFI card that are generally replaceable. But it is not cheap for the full setup.

tis true.
you pay more and more limitations for small form factor.
my main rig is full ATX for the customization.

Well, PBO set to 45W, apparently the motherboard doesn't give a s***

Lowering TDC and EDC did the trick tho. Now I have to worry about the SOC. Oh well baby steps.

Glad I do testing with a normal PSU first

there is another setting in bios, iirc settings - amd cbs - nbio - smu options - am4 system

there are options to select 35w or 65w.

not sure if it works :o

Will try later. Currently the AMD extensive and confusing settings seem to be working out.

Note to self: Do not enable turbo when curve optimizer is set to -30
I'd gladly trade 4.5GHz @ 25W for 3.9GHz @ 10W tho. Pity I can't get everything to run at 4GHz this way. (2GHz FCLK, 2GHz RAM, 2GHz GPU lol)

Turbo kind of useless when I'm so thermally-constrained.

Current settings is giving 3.8GHz all cores @ 38W with 6 threads. For some reason tho if I do 12 threads the clockspeed drops to 3.4GHz and power drops to 32W. I'm probably sticking with this setting. Gives me a good amount of spare power for the GPU. SOC itself eats 36W in Furmark @ 2GHz 1.2V and -30 curve optimizer.

Didn't work. Set 35W still reach 70W with prime+furmark.
