I am planning to get a new computer for 1440p 144hz gaming. Not planning to do any overclocking. My budget is around $1500 (will be great if it can go lower). I would like some advice on the components:

Processor: Intel Core i5-7500

Motherboard: Not sure, please advise

Memory: Prefer high clock speed DDR4 (2 x 8GB)

Graphics card: GTX 1070, please recommend the brand

Storage: Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 256GB (Reuse from current system)

Optical drive: LG GH22NS40 (Reuse from current system)

Casing: Looking at CM Masterbox 5/NZXT S340 Elite/Fractal Design Define S

Power supply unit: Not sure, please advise

Audio: ASUS Essence STX II

1. For CPU/Mobo I'd recommend also looking at Ryzen. ;)

2. For DDR4, if you look at the tests, anything above 3000 does not offer performance improvements - you can save some money here.

3. Get a Zotac here from HWZ, the 1070 in the SG shops is crazy expensive.

My current computer is already down, I can't afford to wait as I use it for work too.

Thanks for the tips though, I will look at the Zotac.
