I'm planning to buy Nikon D5200 and I am also new to photography. Is my decision correct for choosing D5200? If not, what would you people recommend? I know the Nikon 7100 is better however that is out of my budget already.

For the lens, Im more into MACRO & street photography, so I was thinking of after few months of practicing with the kit lens and buy the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm F1.8g. (Cheap and affordable:s13:)

Please kindly give me some of your suggestion or recommendation! Thanks!:s22:

D5200 is not bad. have toyed with my friend's D5100 and felt it was a good camera. its successor shouldn't be any worse.

Get the Nikon D5200, get the 35mm f1.8G (or 50mm f1.8G) for street photography. If u wanna play with macro photography, simply slap on a Raynox DCR-250 macro lens adapter and you can get "poor-man's" macro shots. Alternatively, scour clubsnap buy-and-sell forum for a cheap second-hand Tamron 90mm Macro lens at abt $300 (if u can pounce on one).

I do not know much about other brands except Nikon & Canon. For Nikon wise, I can borrow lens from my friend who is also using a Nikon camera. For canon, I actually like their exterior design. :p hahaha stupid reasons~

why not a mirrorless camera like sony nex series or olympus pen series? smaller, lighter, and equally good compared to a dslr.

If you have made ur mind in getting D5200 or 700D, go to the mall and like our friend above said, touch, molest, hands on them, get the one that is comfortable/ good in your hand.
