Recommendation for Gaming Pc

Hi guys,

As stated above, I need some help with my new build to replace my 7 year old pc (also recommended by the bros here from HWZ). My budget would be <2k excluding keyboard, mouse, monitor and OS.

Appreciate the help/recommendation!

*edited as I had to adjust my budget/no more 4k as well. Apologies for the trouble.

Hi guys,

As stated above, I need some help with my new build to replace my 7 year old pc (also recommended by the bros here from HWZ). My budget would be 1.6k excluding keyboard, mouse, monitor and OS. Main concern would be the graphics card as I will be gaming on dual monitors one being a 4k and the other a 1440p one.

Appreciate the help/recommendation!
Dual monitor gaming :s22:
Monitors different resolution :s22:
4k gaming at 1.6k :s22:

I'm not exactly a tech wiz so judging from your reply I guess dual monitor is out of the equation :s13:

And so, could you enlighten me on the estimated budget for a 4k gaming rig?

Haha okay sorry.

I feel that you should just game on one monitor or 3, 2 monitors at different resolution somemore abit weird hmmm... Of course triple 4k is out of the question...

Maybe 2k would suffice with a fury X/980Ti, a basic i5 and sufficient ssd and HDD space. Would you be recycling any items from previous build?

No problem, I think rather than game on 2 resolution, the 2nd monitor would be for browsing through guides or just surfing the net at the same time. I don't think I will be recycling any items as the cpu will be passed on to my mum for her to watch dramas/basic net surfing.

what games will you be playing? for 4K gaming, a single card will have difficulty pushing out 60fps for newer titles especially FPS.... must be prepared to sacrifice the settings including tuning it down to Medium. Switching off AA helps the framerate a lot if you are like me cant tell the difference :D

Yeah that would make sense Haha. Anyway what games do you play? MMORPG? MOBA? Or AAA titles?

Hi Koroshiya, reason I'm going for a 4k build is because of the LG 34UC97 monitor. It's going at S$1,099 at qoo10 and I personally think that it's a reasonable purchase. But seeing the recommendations and suggestions given out by the helpful bros here I'm starting to have doubts on a 4k rig. Would you recommend a dual 1440p setup or a budget 4k rig.

*sorry if I trouble you with all these questions, I'm a noob when it comes to tech related stuff.

Yeap for most games i tested on 4k. Best is to turn off a few settings. Especially AA on 4k. This will give you the best option to push more than 60fps.

TS, that monitor is not 4K UHD (3840 by 2160) but it's QHD (3440 by 1440).

If you refer to LG, it's less resolution and will be less demanding on the GPU but do be wary of widescreen limitation like some native games doesnt support widescreen like Fifa15.

The worse thing is some games like batman are purposely capped at 30fps.. really facepalm to the max :(

If that's the case then I'll stick to a dual 1440p setup then :(

I apologize for changing my mind and troubling you guys as well. I've set my budget at 2k for a dual 1440p setup, hope you guys don't mind helping me out once again.

Still can go for the setup above. Although for dual setup, best is leave gaming to 1 screen only. Not 2. If you are gaming on multi monitors, is either you go single or you go tri screen. Not 2.

Lets say for some reason you just wanna game at single 1440p you still can go for the rig above mentioned.

A single Fury X or 980ti is able to game a single 1440p at above 60fps.

I see, thanks for the recommendation royfrosty! Yeah I'd either get one more monitor for an eye-finity setup or just use the second monitor to browse the net.
