Would like to buy a simple CPU/Notebook for my mom. She just mainly uses it to watch shows and play web games on facebook at home.

Should I get a CPU with external nice monitor for video viewing or.. (saw there are new super small CPU that can connect to a monitor for basic usage)

A cheap notebook with nice screen but lousy specs..

Factors: Price, Display quality, Durability

Recommendations??

Thank you!!

For watching show, plus fb web game... - my laopo uses her ipad for all that. Lie in bed, sit on couch, sit at table all can. Unless your mum is the type to sit at a desk, maybe can consider a tablet also? But got chance to cultivate bad posture habits. Haha. Can bring around the house. Convenient to watch/listen while doing chores, etc, if she does housework or what. I use my phone to play music/youtube while washing dishes and doing laundry.

Bro, this day and age... I thought quite standard for husband and laopo toshare household chores, unless you can afford to hire a domestic helper. Can add wash toilet and other household maintenance tasks to the list :s13:

mib500 buaya failed in hwc thread

Lol. I can imagine some may find it hard to imagine guys washing dishs and doing laundry if they grew up in a family with parents who took on strong, traditional gender roles, e.g. father - sole breadwinner, mother - take care of household. Nothing wrong with that, just different. :)

Ok ok, back on topic please. Based on my own exp at home, I feel like TS' laobu may be better served with a tablet?

since on similar thread, anyone can recommend a good CPU + Mobo , running on on-board graphics (dont mind AMD) ...

just youtubing/surfing net only.... :zonia::zonia::zonia:

cost to be as low as possible

A55m-e33 and a4 5300 for $112 at pcthemes should be good enough for your needs. If you prefer to have a stronger cpu+mobo combo can get g3258 and h81m-hds for $174 instead

herman, should i get g3258 and h81m-hds for $174 or go for i3 / i5?
wife will be mainly surfing net, youtubing / and excel. need to use onboard to support 2 monitors though.. thinking of going SLS tml to get it...

will be reusing everything, except mobo + CPU

Even Intel Celeron G1620 works better than A4-5300 in such scenario. I personally own a Celeron G1610 with ASRock B75M-DGS combo that i bought from Tradepac in 2014 that costed me $125, which is very similar to the AMD A4 APU combo price. Not sure if they still hold any stock for this particular Celeron CPU but you can try your luck at it. However, there are still spikes to 100% and lags when trying to load some facebook flash games even with my Celeron G1610 despite even having SSD as boot drive. So you could be much better off investing on Pentium G3258 which is more powerful than even the Pentium G2120.

Office Productivity scenario emulates typical office tasks, such as text editing, electronic tables processing, email and Internet surfing. This scenario uses the following applications: ABBYY FineReader Pro 10.0, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Microsoft Excel 2010, Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft Outlook 2010, Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, Microsoft Word 2010 and WinZip Pro 14.5.
