Recommendation for laptop < 1k

Hi everyone

Helping my dad to look for a simple laptop below $1k.

Requirements are:
1) Mainly word and excel usage
2) Internet surfing
3) Watching videos
4) at least 14" display
5) no gaming at all
6) Windows OS

Don't mind either getting online or from brick and mortar shops. Not in a rush so if waiting a bit can get better deal, that's not an issue.

I suggest go to any store and check out what sales they have at 999 dollars. Go in, talk to the sales guy and see if they can give you more discount. Don't take any accessories (mouse, bag). If can, push for warranty extension or discount on that

Have a test on the keyboard to see if you like it.

In General, you can get one with i5, 8gb ram and 512 gb ssd.
