Recommendation for laptop overseas studies

Hi,

I've not been following notebook development for quite awhile.

Can someone recommend me a notebook that is below $2500.

I'm giving it to a friend for overseas studies. So it is likely important for it to have international warranty (not a deal breaker though if it doesn't).

There will be some light gaming but nothing intensive.

What is important that I want it to last. I've had bad experiences with Acer & Toshiba so I'd prefer not those.

Any recommendations for Sony & Fujitsu or Samsung? Other brands that I am not aware of are welcomed too.

i was doing some homework to look for a new laptop recently too.

W regards to international warranty, some of the Toshiba's models come with 3 years international warranty! you can go and check it out. I like the portege series, very light and looks not bad. Some of the forumers also say that it is reliable, but I am still waiting to see if there are more free gifts during comex.

For asus, you will get 2yrs int warranty. But i'm hoping to get free upgrade to 3 yrs during comex.
For msi, it will be 1 yr int,1 yr local. not sure if can upgrade to more yrs, i emailed corbell but they did not reply me

International ?? No longer possible these days..

You can consider the Portege Z930 with the SSD option. Very light weight and you lug around your campus. And it comes with 3 years international carry-in warranty.
