Recommendation for new PC build

Hello.
I am planning to upgrade my current PC but only upgrading certain parts.
A friend of mine gave me a link to PC Themes' price list and for the parts that I want to upgrade, it is within my budget ($900).

Link to PC Themes Price List: (Unable to place the link because I don't have enough post count..)

I intend to get a new casing, PSU, CPU, Motherboard and Optical Drive.
I will be reusing the GPU, RAM and HDD that my current PC has.

Current Computer Specification:

Motherboard:
- Asus P5GC-MX/1333

CPU:
- Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 2.5GHz

HDD:
- Hitachi 3.5" 160GB 7200 RPM IDE HDD 8MB

RAM:
- Kingston 2GB (x 2)

PSU:
- POWERLOGIC MAGNUM 300/450
PW SUPPLY 600WATT 12CM

GPU:
- NVIDIA GeForce GT620 1GB

CD-Drive:
- ATAPI CD-RW 52XMax ATA Device

I am would like an ASUS Motherboard again but need it to have USB 3.0 because I can't even connect my external hard drive or iPhone to my current motherboard. Device cannot be recognized or Not enough power.
The motherboard would have to support both SATA and IDE since my old hard drive is an IDE one. I also need it to have Gigabit Ethernet (I am using half my internet's true power as my current motherboard only has Fast Ethernet).

You would be able to tell why I want a better Intel CPU. I'm aiming for the i7 3770k. I might overclock in future and also don't want to do another upgrade anytime soon. PC Themes have good bundles for CPU + Motherboard. I am still open to purchase from other places that have better prices for similar bundles, if they do have bundles.

I'll be reusing the RAM and be getting more RAM at a later time.
My current optical drive is only able to read and write CDs.
I intend to get a standard DVD Optical drive that will be able to read and write.

I require a PSU upgrade because after installing the GPU on my current PC, I was not able to use the USB device with my Tactic 3D Alpha headset anymore. The GPU was taking up the power and my sound kept cracking up only at times when I load a game up because the game was using the GPU.
I would like to have a 800W PSU but my friend told me that a 600W or 700W would suffice. I'd still go for the bigger number, to be safe.

NOTE: The details of my current PSU stated above says "600WATT" but I think it is a 300W PSU. The details is as what was stated on the receipt after I purchased it a few years ago. I purchased it from Techpro Resources at Sim Lim Square.

I only intend to get a new casing because I saw some videos where people set up their own rigs and the PSU was at the bottom instead of being on top.
I also think my casing might be too old. I'm not sure if it is a mid or high tower. I want to get a high tower, one of Cooler Master's or Fractal Design's once again to not make a upgrade anytime soon.

I picked out some items just to see if it would fit the budget of $900 and found out that it would. I figured that I'd get a new HDD too since my current 160GB HDD only has 20GB left in it with what's left of the $900 budget.
My only concern now is picking the specific items to not only be within the budget but also get the good ones by having recommendations.
$900 for a new motherboard, CPU, PSU, HDD (At least 500GB but 1TB if my budget would allow it), casing and optical drive.
Parts that will be reused are the RAM, GPU and 160GB HDD.

I hope to get some good recommendations from anyone who read up to this point. I'm also open to looking at other stores that might have better offers. All the items do not necessarily have to be purchased from PC Themes. My friend got me their price list just so I could find out if I would be within the budget for the upgrades I desire.

What is the purpose of this rig? Do you need OS?

You have to replace your hdd as most current mobo doesn't support IDE. You have to change your ram as well as you can't reuse DDR2 ram on the new mobo.

I can't reuse my HDD? =(
I remember that some new motherboards still support IDE and SATA, though.
My current HDD still has all my data that I need.
I'm building this rig for gaming.
Oh, yea. You're right. I won't be able to use DDR2.. I forgot about that.
I have OS for installation. Windows 8 and Windows 7.

Even if the mobo supports IDE, it is not recommended, since the old drive is going to be slower. You can always copy out your old data to the new drive.

You are not going to need a 800W PSU unless you intend to CrossfireX/SLi 7850 or 660 and above, or you intend to go for a world record in i7-3770k overclocking with LN2.

Then, I guess a 700W would suffice and I would like to transfer out my data to the new HDD too.

If u nt planning sli and crossfire a 500w psu is more den enuff. Thats provided if the psu is reputable and has a good build. A typical system runs ard 350w on full load. U can even run it with a 400w psu but of cos u will be stressing e psu.
So normally we will recommend ard 500watt psu for single gpu setup as psu has the most efficiency at ard 60% load.
Getting a 1k psu while ur system only consume 320w on peak load is nt a good idea as psu is nt at its best efficiency at 30% load. Hence, some power is "wasted"

I might plan to SLI/Crossfire in future.
As I mentioned, I want to build this rig so that I won't have to be doing
anymore upgrades for some time. Like, for the next 3 years maybe?
From what you say, it seems a 500W/600W PSU would be perfect just as my
friend suggested.

Dun use might to get things u dun need cos 90% it will not happen.
Whether to upgrade the next 3 years depends more on game and technology advancement rather than your spec.
In other word, get what you need now instead of thinking what u need to substain it in the future.
So drop your 3770k to 3450 and a 500w and invest in a new graphic card.
A gaming rig with a gt620 is a joke.
