Recommendation for PC build

Hi all,

Would like to get some opinion from the gurus over here. I have used the sticky and fine tuned the parts i'm thinking of purchasing for my new PC. and i will be using dual screen. Don't need speaker, mouse, keyboard.

Main use: Office use, some internet games, hobbyist photoshop & lightroom. watching movies.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 (since i5-4440 is only a few $ less)
MOBO: Asus B85 plus/ Asus B85M-G/ ASrock B85-HDS (Not sure which to choose)
RAM: Crucial DDR 3 8GB kit
GFX: Leadtek GT610DDR(LP) 2GB / Powercolor R7 240 1GB OC (not sure)
ODD: Any cheap OEM
HDD: WD 1TB Blue
SSD: is there really a need to go for SSD?
PSU: Seasonic S12II 520W/FSP Aurum 500W/FSP Hexa 500/Corsair CX500 (Some people have recommend me to go for Superflower 500, but i cant find the price and everyone has been giving different PSU recommendation. I'm confused)
CHASIS: Fractal Design core 3000 (just like this case)
OS: Win 7 64Bit HP
Monitor: 2x Viewsonic VX2370SMH-LED

Budget: ~$1400(including monitor. but if can go lower is better)

CPU - Looks okay.
MOBO - Two of those are mATX boards. The Fractal Core 3000 isn't really a very compact case, so I'm going to assume you made a mistake. I would pick the ASUS if I had to choose amongst these three. The ASRock B85 Killer is a good and cheaper alternative too.
RAM - Looks okay.
GFX - I would get no lower than a Leadtek 750Ti, actually. I don't know about photo editing, but it really makes a difference when you're working with video editing.
ODD - Samsung's is the cheapest at the moment.
HDD - Looks okay.
SSD - You should be including an SSD if you can. It improves speeds very significantly and it's very cheap these days. Go with the Crucial MX100 128GB.
PSU - Superflower 500 is a solid choice. It costs $88.
Chassis - Looks okay.
OS - Looks okay.
Monitors - Looks okay.

Like you mentioned, 2 of them is mATX. I was actually thinking of ATX at first. However, after much consideration, i don't think i'll need a full ATX board, thus i shortlist the 2 mATX. As for the chasis, it was cause of the ATX board. However, i'm not sure if there are other good airflow and good cable management for mATX that is less than $100. Maybe you can recommend.

Yeah. that's what one of my friend said. that's why i went for the R7 240. However, not sure if this is good enough since it's the cheapest.

I notice there is a new SSD from Corsair which is also going for very cheap. What you think of that?

Where can i find this PSU? i can't seems to find any pricelist that has this PSU.

For matx case, I would recommend fractal design core 1000. It is 59 @ PCThemes.

As for your graphics card, imo the gtx 750Ti should be the bare minimum you should go for. The R7 240 is not as good as the 750Ti.

Not too sure about the corsair ssd but people usually recommend Crucial m500/Mx100 for price and Samsung 840 Evo for performance. Have never seen a corsair ssd being recommend so it is probably not worth buying.

The superflower psu is available at both PCThemes and TradePac. Tradepac has a much lower price.

mATX doesn't really save you much, I'd just go with an ATX build honestly.
I don't think the R7 240 offers the same level of performance as a 750Ti. The 750Ti is also very efficient.
I don't like the Corsair SSD offerings. Their budget lines don't perform as well as Crucial's, and their performance offerings are beaten by Sandisk's, Intel's and Samsung's. I would avoid them.
PC Themes and Tradepac both carry the Superflower. You may want to grab it fast, as it usually goes out of stock really quickly.

Because i have looked at the price of 750Ti, it's at least $200. That will blow my budget by too much. Any in between graphic card?

At the same time, you mentioned that PCtheme carry superflower 500W, but i didn't see that in their pricelist. maybe i would have to go down and ask i guess. at the same time, would you know when their stocks comes in? I'm planning to go down to SLS either this fri or next mon.

One more questions, how long is the warranty for asrock mobo? because Asus seems to have 3 years warranty but asrock seems to only have 1 year. But my friend has said that all mobo has 3 year warranty currently. Is that true?

@nipp0n based on your built you recommend that i drop the GPU and get the SSD. Why is that so? I mean, i understand PS can be quite taxing on the computer. Could you please advise on this?

Actually imo, I think the lowest one should ever buy is gtx750 if for very light gaming, Photoshop or anything else. Anything below it is not worth might as well use onboard gpu

If you are going for < $100 gpu, i rather you save that money and get an ssd as i doubt those gpu will make any significant difference compared to onboard gpu. But if you prefer to have a discrete graphic card, like what hengheng has said, go for at least GTX 750 or 750 Ti.

Yeah can easily search up google for their benchmarks. Different brand cards have different clock speeds.
But performance won't vary much. Another thing is gpu temperature diff cause of the diff heat sink design

Difference is in temps and design only. Plus since this is a low wattage and heat card, probably won't varies that much ba just get the cheaper one.performance maybe 1or2 fps different

If youre on budget go tradepac dont go pct. and secondly dont take 750 take 750 TI

Yes, get the cheapest one. Zotac is good, comes with 5 year warranty.

I did some research, all different brand of gtx 750 doesn't go higher than 65 degree Celsius (acceptable range) at room temperature.
Performance different between cards is around 1 ~ 3 fps difference if you play triple A title game at high setting.

Don't go for cheap graphic card, their price to performance is shitty as hell.
For example, a $100 graphic card means you only get 1 unit of performance. A $220 graphic card like gtx 750ti means you get 5 units of performance.
The price to performance graph for graphics card are like bell curve. The ratio suck when graphic card are either too expensive or too cheap.
