Hi, I be going to buy a desktop for both work and gaming. For work, I am going to need it to handle heavy software such as After Effects and Unreal engine 4/5 or Unity engine.

From google search, this desktop from dell seems to be the best one.

But I am looking for hear any other recommendations if there are any better ones?

Updated: Budget is around 2k
thanks

p terrible value for a 12700 + 1660ti for 2k. from dreamcore u can top up 100 can get a 12400 + 3060ti build which is a lot more balanced, plus u save on using ddr5, which is still pretty expensive. however, depending on ur needs it may not be the best fit for u. what resolution and refresh rate do u game at? if u usually game at around 1440p60 and u care about ur game engine compile times, then a 1660ti and a more powerful cpu would make more sense.

The 2k must be because of ddr5 lol, even so still feels quite bad value.

If you are on a budget I recommend 12700f + 3060.

12700f has insane value and provides a huge amount of CPU resources.
RTX 3060 has 12GB VRAM.

Both highly benefit your productivity and 3d rendering needs.

Also, I would recommend going for a DDR4 board and get at least 32GB ram.

find it weird that the ddr5 ram speed there is advertised as 4400. Tot the lowest speed for ddr5 is 4800?

For that Dell build, other than the CPU is good for AE, every other component listed are not worth it, especially the ram and HDD storage is smh.

that's right.. luckily he asked here.

Else i dont know what he gonna do with 6GB 1660ti and 16GB ram lol :ROFLMAO:
My current PC has GTX 960 and 16gb of ram, runs AE, Unity and UE4 well.

I been searching based on the replies' recommendations and it's alittle difficult to find one with a lower pricing. Budget is around 2k.

If you don't mind going for Diy, aka just pick the parts and ask the retailer to build for you, I think can get it within or near 2k budget.

Below is with reference from Dynacore pricelist. You may want to reuse your Gtx 960 for now, and upgrade it later when gpu price drop to save some money. Possibly reuse current PC storage as 2nd storage (not work/output folder).

Branded/Prebuild like Dell the good thing is the onsite warranty any issue just call them
and they come to repair.
DIY wise any issue you have to troubleshoot or send to a shop to repair.

There are builders like Dreamcore, Aftershock etc. but I would recommend go to Sim Lim Square
ask around.
If you are using a Intel 4th gen with GTX960 and 16GB RAM doing After effects.

Upgrading to 6 core or more will increase system performance as well as a fast NVME SSD especially for video editing.
I myself is using Intel i5 9600k (16GB DDR4) with GTX960 (2GB), some may feel the graphic card is overpowered
by the 6 core CPU which is true.

I am waiting for GPU prices to be stable first before upgrading the GTX 960. Graphic card
with 2GB VRAM isn't enough for today's games and application.
So if you want cheaper than $2k you can ask around shops at Sim Lim Square.

Since we do not know what is your current PC specs so we can't advice whether can do partial
upgrade or full upgrade.

Just a few things.

12th gen cores have way surpassed the previous generations.

A 9900K with 8C16T @ stock has just about the same amount of CPU resources as a 12400 with 6C12T. Instead, the 12400 may shine in specific tasks due to higher single-core performance and technology advancements.

Core count is just a mere count, the total CPU resources it can provide is what matters.

Cheers

Does DDR4 3200mhz ram vs a DDR5 4800mhz ram have any significant real world performance difference?

Thanks for the recommendations. :)

This is what I am trying to get now -
intel core i7
RTX 3060
32gb ddr4

hmm..
Around 3.2k on dreamcore with 3 years warranty
But on Aftershock, I can get 2.5k

For OS, I can buy a unactivated version of windows 11 and activated it with my current windows 8.1 product key?

How is dreamcore so expensive? You went for the K version i7?
Aftershock 12700F + B660M + 3060 12GB + 32GB DDR4 3600Hmz + 1TB NVme only 2.4K.

They seems to only have the k version.
How can it be 2.5k and 3.2k when companies like aftershock throw crappy OEM or low-quality parts in the build?

This from poo is 2k only with good quality MOBO, SSD, COOLER, and PSU. Suggest you go for this one. As for the case, you may want a lian li or phantek.
