Hi guys,

I wanted an Ultra portable with 16GB RAM.
HDD I think are basically standard SSD 256GB above. Preferably Intel core i7. Size 14-15 inches are ok. Saw the Dell XPS. Abit expensive. Any other alternative? Thanks

Wait for the 15 inch ASUS UX501VW to arrive. Comes with 4K screen, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

By the way I have no idea what you mean by ultra portable with 14-15" screens... those screen sizes are never in the ultra portable category. The ultra portable category comes with 10, 11.6, 12.5 or 13.3" screens. You can get get sub-1 kg weights and sub-15 mm thickness only with the 11.6 " sizes.

If you do not mind buying from overseas website and only 8GB Ram, can consider the LG Gram 15.

Dell XPS is pretty slim. Not that heavy for a 14inch. I think it is Ultrabook

Gaming models like MSI GS40? 1.6kg for 14" model. Quad core processor, max 16GB RAM. :)

Ultrabook is a term that Intel defines as not more than 2 cm thick and under 2 kg. That's not an ultra-portable. Many manufacturers deliberately confuse the matter.

An ultra-portable should really be among the lightest and thinnest laptops in the market now. By definition, ultra would imply the most in every aspect of portability.

Something like an Asus UX305 would be considered ultra-portable at the budget end of the scale. The other end would be populated by enterprise laptops like the Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1. The latter costs 3X the price of the former...
