Hi, anyone has a recommendation for a light & budget laptop?

-under $1000
-screen size don't matter
-preferably about 1.5kg or less
-I5 processor
-prefer not Acer

Just bought a Dell Inspiron 11 3000. Swapped out HDD and put in SSD, now equally fast as my old i7 2630QM. ~1.4kg

You won't need i5 for daily web browsing, ms office and youtubes

There are some $300++ notebooks using Celeron CPU. More than enough for HWZ and youtube. These models available on Amazon are not sold by Asus/Dell themselves in SIN. How come they don want to bring these model to SIN?

Actually, we have them in through Acer and are selling through Qoo10.
Acer is rather cautious as they do not want to affect the mass market, thus they only limit to a few resellers and can only be sell through certain limited channels. We are the selected few resellers that are allow to sell this officially.

Anyway, to TS,

there are only a handful of i5 models below 1.5kg in the market now.
U330p is probably the only one that fit your all requirements apart being 30g over your weight requirment.

Other models would be

Acer Aspire V13 - i5 @ 1.5kg. Price: $999
Cons: Fits all requirement but TS prefer other brands

Dell Vostro 5470 - i5 @ 1.6kg Price: $1198
Cons: Above budget and is 1.6kg

Asus UX32LA - i5 @ 1.45kg. Price: $1098
Cons: Slightly above budget, and no stocks for 2 months already.

Samsung XE700 - i5 @ 900gm. Price: $799
Cons: Win 7, windows tablet, used with bluetooth keyboard only.

As what PC Dreams said. That and they do not want mass market people to know that a Celeron/Pentium is actually sufficient for their needs.
