Recommendation on laptop

Hi all, I need some advice with regards to purchasing a laptop.

Previously I have used the Lenovo Ideapad. Y4XXX (cant remember, that's about 2 years ago)

Subsequently, I used the Asus S46CB

Now Im looking for a new laptop, it need not be an ultrabook as based on my experience, ultrabook does not have sufficient juice esp in running intense games.

Firstly, what models of laptops are better in terms of durability and overall power in running applications- I play FB flash games, play movies and listen to music/ surf internet etc like any other regular user.

So far I only know Lenovo is the best, followed by Asus but Im open to trying other brands or are there any particular model from Lenovo or Asus worth mentioning? My budget is about 1.4k. Thanks!

look out for notebook with class 2 GPU card at least.
