Hi veterans/gurus,

I know the title sounds misleading/confusing but I'm just here to ask on what should I do with my 2 year old rig.

I would like to check with you guys on whether how I can upgrade this current rig to good condition to keep it up and running again because I game often so I'm a sucker when it comes to being able to play games at good fps and a silent rig. My current rig is whirling like crazy (Yes I do clean out the dust occasionally...) and it's getting loud when I play games nowadays... (Dead rising 3, Tera: Rising, etc just to name a few. Lots of good games are coming up...)

Yes, I'm on a budget as well and that's why I'm posting here to ask for recommendations on what should I do with it for the best bang for my buck. I mean... upgrading parts gotta be cheaper than buying a whole new rig right? And I think I would prefer upgrading to a nvidia card if that's suggested.

Current rig setup:
5 3470 gigabyte h77 d3h mvp
kingston 4gb ddr3 x 2 pcs
powercolor 7950 3gb v2 edition with 2 fans
crucial m4 128gb ssd
seagate 1tb sata 3 64mb cache hdd
asus 24x dvdrw
fsp aurum gold 550w modular psu
sharkoon t28 case
ms win 7 home prem 64bit oem
dell u2312hm 23" EIPS panel with 5 yrs warranty

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of changing it to a new case as well because I broke the stock fan and the brackets when I was trying to unscrew it and the threads went loose and I went a little crazy with it :s13: And if I decided to change and upgrade, is there anyone who can provide that service?

How about water cooling? Corsair H100i? Or is it outdated?

Regards and thanks.

Edit: Please remember I'm on a budget but I'm willing to explore your recommendations and save up for it. Not changing my ssd/hdd because I think they're fine...o.o

For an overkill silent freak system, change following parts

GPU: Change to any MSI with Twin Frozr cooler
Casing: Fractal Design R4
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
HDD: WD SE Enterprise series
PSU: Seasonic 1kW/1.2kW Platinum or Gold series/
Cooler Master V1000/V1200 Platinum/
Superflower Leadex 1kW Platinum

Optional: Any additional fans for casing, can get the Noctua NF-P12 (120mm) or NF-A14 (140mm)

Hi Ark thank you for your replies. Can you roughly tell me how much is it? And why didn't you suggest a change of gfx? Because I was on budget? And I don't need an overkill silent freak rig... Just silent enough to be comfortable :s13::s13:

Among all the recommendations here, i suggest you remedy your own pc first.

Your specs are still good and do not require to change anything at the moment.

1) Have you changed/add any form of new fans into the T28 Chassis? Cause my prime suspect is that you are able to hear whirling sound is due to your fan bearing could be faulty.

2) Have you checked on the intel stock fans if you are using one.

3) Check the PSU fans. Does it have any whirling sounds.

Thank you for the reply Roy. This was the kind of recommendation I was looking for... No offence to the bros who gave their recommendation but as I'm on a really tight budget. I wanted to know if I can remedy this problem without changing much and that if my spec are still updated to keep me going.

But Roy I'm really clueless about all these despite it being a diy computer because I engaged someone for this service so... Yeah. Is there anyone who can help me with this directly?

1. I don't know about any form of new fans from them but like I said the brackets for the fans in the front is already messed up and I can't screw the fan properly to the socket now. I don't think it's causing the noise because it's coming from the back I supposed. That's why I was thinking if I should get a new case for this...

2. I never really checked it... But is it possible to remove the stock fan? Is it called a heat sink or cpu cooler? And replaced it with corsair i100? It looks really neat without the need to clean it.

3. I have no idea how to check this :s11:

4. I got a weird feeling that the noise is coming from my gfx card. What if that fan is faulty? Is it gone case?

Once again, sorry for the noob questions...

OK I suggest since you are quite green in this, so the best way to go about is to ask Nigel aka gs(forum nick). He is located in SLS. Level 2. PC care solutions. He can help you.

He doesn't charge people. But some kopi money goes a long way.

Actually there's no need to change it in the first place. It's only a want, not a need
