hi,

thinking of buying a checked luggage for trip to UK in May for about 11 days,

I am thinking to buy a metal frame luggage BUT i am not sure which brand is value for money,

readup and saw that people recommend TUMI but most if not all their luggages are zipped ones and i am not keen in the zipper design as i worry that it might ruptured and contents get spilt out, and also it is not water proof so if rain, contents might get wet,

so for those plastic hard case with metal frame luggage,

can anyone share what brand and model which you have bought and used and last you quite some time,

also about the size, it seems like 27 or 28 is best for most airlines and it was mentioned that the larger the luggage you might over pack and cause the weigh to exceed so not recommended to get like 29 or bigger ones as these might be easily overweight and airlines might charge more for larger luggages,

can anyone share their experience or knowledge ?

if budget is not a concern, then Samsonite. point of ref, it is usually about 30% more expensive then the competition.

Forgot to mention as you are going there for 11 days, ideally 29" luggage will be better. As you afraid of over pack and weight concern then I will suggest you to a get handheld portable weighing scale. :)

I recommend a bag that isnt expensive and once u get it, make it look used n scruffy.
Maybe put some stickers on it.
Reason is that it wouldnt look expensive and less chance to get stolen.

No need tumi la. been using American tourister luggage that gotten free from Citibank cc sign up. Think more than 7-8 years old liao. Exterior looks like cmi but everything still working fine.

Wah but at the end of the day, isn't it really more of your own preference?
