was using MW550 THX, then changed to Katana + MW550 subwoofer = simple wiring + powerful punch

Wa the Razer Nommo Pro looks good, like the form factor that it's not super big. However price point is a big issue, would definitely buy if it's S$500 instead.

Probably the weird downward firing speakers and to THX to put their logo on it. Razer now owns THX so no more problems there

Swans M10 - Desktop with limited space
Logitech Z623 - TV living
Logitech Z550 - Tv game room with PS4

If you have the space, go for M50 or Z623 both are equally good.

M50 looks chio with wooden speaker case, also my first time having wooden speakers. But the speaker cover netting very trap dust.

The problem with getting Swan speakers or the Z623 is both use 3.5mm input. Modem times like now is very ma fan where we may prefer bluetooth audio to connect and play.

If you prefer logitech, go for model Z625 (Successor Z623) with optical output. Alot of people in their review menstion its good successor to logitech ATP which alot of us have gotten in 2000s. I think it is heaps better as I own ATP before upgrading to Z5500.

If you want alot of connections input, can consider creative katana which i almost hoot but having read fellow hwzer (forgot his nick) review and he recommend z623 for same price. I went to audition the katana at challenger and found i dont quite like the sound like he did. I find its very underpowered (I am not audiopile, don't know the audio terminology).

I have just checked mine.

Yes same pitch but it is not that noticeable at mid volume nod. It becomes louder when i turn it full nod.

I cant hear the pitch once when I start to play music or tv shows.

I din even noticed the pitch existed until i read your post and upon placing my ears very close to the speakers. I always thought it is normal for pc speakers to have some low background hiss? It is more like a hiss sound .

Btw if you get M10, there is also a thud sound when you off the speakers switch. Also alot of people complaining.

Hi networked, thanks for trying it out. I suppose non disruptive hissing is tolerable. I encountered high pitched ground loop sound on my speakers and it was a pain to troubleshoot. Eventually I managed to figure out the faulty cable as the root cause. Take note my speakers are more than a decade old.

Thought of replacing the speakers with something new. However it seems some of the new models like creative t4, klipsch promedia, swan m50w, etc have their own issues as well.

I highlighted the Swan speakers thud sound when i read that you intend to place the speakers in room with a sleeping baby. It is not a big issue to tackle if you just keep it on standby. I off mine after each use to save some electricity.

You can make your way to Challenger to test the creative speakers linked up with blue tooth with your HP mp3. That will give you an idea nfc/blue tooth connectivity and music quality.

If your speakers are hooked up on to a pc /laptop, connection via 3mm shd not be an issue. But if you have an game console to connect as well. You may connect via optical.

So you do have to consider what peripherals you intend to connect to the speakers as well.

Note: I cant tell any quality difference if its played directly or via blue tooth

For my PC audio setup I have stuck to studio monitors and audio interfaces for almost 6 years now.

I started with
M-Audio AV30 with a Steinberg Ci1
Currently I use a Yamaha HS5 with a Steinberg UR44 (balanced XLR connection)

The ease of having every connection coming off a neat interface with dedicated volume knobs is really good for me. Sound quality is stellar as well. You can demo multiple studio monitors in music stores and decide what you like. Luthermusic you can demo multiple sets and compare the sound.

If someone likes Bass I would recommend the KRK rokit 5 studio monitors.

Still using my trusty Pioneer AVR SC1223 together with my Infinity Primus 5.1 speakers.

Although i thinking whether should i downgrade to just stereo amps for my pc and migrate the 5.1 speakers to my new home and put it in the living room.

Never tested swan before so cannot comment much.

So far I had used Creative T3 > Audioengine A5 > Aktimate Maxi > Aktimate Blue

So far I had enjoyed both Aktimate Maxi and Blue. Both around $1400 - $1500. I had paired both of them with Audiolab MDac. Both sound very good. Downside is they are just 2.0 speakers. But their lows are pretty sufficient if u give ample distance at the rear. Personally I think audioengine A5 are over rated. The bass sounded muddy and it broke down on me twice.

My advice to you is to invest in a pair of good speakers as they will last longer, at times even longer than your rig.

With BT, any soundcard you are using is bypassed because BT is a compressed digital protocol. THere is a DAC built into every BT speaker/earphone. The implementation so far is rather meh. We will see an improvement with BT 5 but products are slow to market.
