Recommendation - Should I get a new rig?

Hi bros, you can see my current rig on the side. It's mostly for gaming (ideally ultra settings with >100fps).

It's about 6yo now (except for relatively new GPU + Monitor) and now feeling a bit hand itchy so just feel like upgrading.

However, due to slight covid19-related budget concerns, I'm thinking of using my current GPU (1080) while creating a top-end rig capable of using a 2080ti (or better in the future) with no bottlenecks.

Does this make sense? Or would you recommend I just stick to my current rig (which is running fine) and just wait for couple more years?

Since you have a decent working system I would wait.

For myself I recently did a flagship build because I had no PC for many years. Was only using Mac for work.

Prices for everything is inflated right now until China production capacity recovers to pre-COVID levels.

almost all youtube benchmark videos i have seen r FPS games, can't find any on 4X games. also it's either gpu vs gpu or cpu vs cpu, hard to gauge bottleneck from cpu or gpu

Yes. You want to change to i7-7700 have to buy lga 1151 mobo. Your B85 motherboard can only support lga 1150 socket cpus. I.e the 4th generation intel cpus.

Yup no way as different socket as well as 7 gen uses DDR4.
If you are budget tight, you can consider upgrading to i7 4th gen.
Or wait till you have budget than change CPU, mobo and RAM.

Still can change to the i7-4770 which is still a great gaming chip. 4cores/8threads with very high clockspeed. or i7-4790. Or better still go for the 4c8t xeons from china. Even cheaper then getting i7 4770. Can be use on the b85 mobo. Something like the e3-1230 v3 xeons. Only cost about $69.99 usd as of now from aliexpress free shipping from china.
