Recommendation to upgrade CPU

Guys, i came here many years ago for recommendation to built my own CPU. I stopped using it when i bought a laptop but now i'm looking to upgrade it. It will be to play some PC games. My budget is $1k?

Can you recommend some upgrades?

This is my current computer specs. If there is anything that can be reuse, that will be great.

Don't think you can reuse any of the part given it is more than 10 years old.
$1k is very difficulty as the graphic card itself will cost around $500.

Radeon HD7950 is a strong graphic card, depending on what game you are playing.
If you want to savage or reuse this PC, suggest upgrade the CPU to Intel i7 3770 (second hand).
Than do a clean install of Windows 10 for better performance and stability than
the upgrade of Windows 10 over WIn 7.

I still have a older PC meant for testing running Win 7.
Intel i7 2600K ASUS Geforce GTX 560 Ti some games except newer games
still run fine.

Ok, I will have to replace the whole CPU with a higher budget, maybe 1.5k. I am thinking of getting the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G together with MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi. Is this a good combo?

Memory: MSI 450 nvme 1TB
CPU cooler: thermalright axp90 46

I buy the parts separately from different platform. Currently save $500+

not really, that particular x570 model has particularly bad vrms and probably just barely handles the 5700g, with a high chance of throttling ur cpu and limiting future upgrades. furthermore, as the rest have mentioned, 5700g doesnt support pcie 4, so paying the premium for x570 is completely wasted. suggest u search for a good quality b450 board instead, eg tomahawk.

Local Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB goes around $190.
Looks OK but not sure how good the temperature is.

I rather you balanced a spec so you can get a good graphic card to go with it.

Yup, previously I was considering getting ryzen 3600 pair with 1660ti but since I'm not really into gaming, last played is elden ring ps4 and now diablo immortal on mobile. I decided not to go for GPU at the moment since the price is not attractive. I got 5700g for just $338 to act as cpu and gpu will be good enough as of now.

Actually this rig looks good. But why do you need a 650W?
Get this, with ur setup, anything above 300W already overkill.

Mobo, you can consider a B550i to save more money.
