Recommendations for 144Hz Monitors

I recently upgraded my rig to a i7-7700k with a RX480 graphics card. I'm running an old Dell IPS 60Hz monitor and looking to upgrade to an affordable 144Hz monitor. Any recommendations?

7700K with RX480. Just keep to your IPS 60hz and push max settings on your card.

You play cs go on high refresh rate? Otherwise rx480 not very ideal for pushing 144hz on AAA titles without lowering the graphical settings.

Depends on the type of games u play, and the setting used. U have yet to mention about the resolution of the monitor too, 1080? 1440? Makes quite a difference

Was looking at 1440 resolution. However, based on my RX480, it seems that iit will be an overkill. If the games are fast moving, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, which would be a good graphics card? Will the GTX 1060 or 1070 sufficient, or just go for the 1080?

Rx480 is still okay to pair with 1080p 144hz playing high end games at about medium to medium-high settings, depending on the games you play.

1440p 144hz need gtx 1080 unfortunately and still not necessarily can go to max settings, depending on titles.

1070 will be the sweet spot for 1440p 144hz. Do not need 1080 for that requirement.

at 1440p, even gtx 1080 has problem pushing high fps on 144hz monitor
for example, for overwatch, you need to down graphics by one level to ultra instead of epic.

Actually an oced 980ti is faster than an oced 1070

Depends on case by case basis. If the monitor is old like you said and no warranty, you can use inbuilt radeon additional settings to do custom refresh rate.

You can bump it up to probably 75Hz see if it black screens and reverts. I used CRU tool to enable freesync on my non freesync LG monitor on RX480. YMMV. Now I don't have an RX 480 but my monitor is still overclocked 25% from start no issues so far.

I am currently running 980Ti for all my games on the S2716DG 144hz TN LCD.
To me, at least for the games I play like Battlefront and Doom (Vulcan API), I am consistently getting average around 100+ FPS with intense scenes dropping to around low 90s+ FPS. I use Geforce Experience to optimse my settings based on my rig and from what I see most of the settings are pretty maxed out. Of course settings like AA and AS are not maxed out but I prefer fluidity over the added detail which at even 2560x1440 might be hard to point out. All the more FPS games you are consistently moving around, so such detail may not be appreciated.

Perhaps the newer games might tax older graphic cards at 1440p but I think a 1070 should more than do the work. Unless you are really looking into VR, I think the 1080 or possibly the 1080 Ti might actually make more sense.

Could u define affordable? Affordable to someone could mean spending 1K on a monitor because he can affords it. Anw if u are looking one that is priced sub 500, there are alternatives from BenQ, otherwise u could look up on screens with TN panel instead. Compromise on the type of screen for the boost in refresh rate

I can't see any 1920x1080 IPS monitor with 144hz refresh rate.

If you use an IPS monitor now it's really hard to use a TN panel unless someone can tell me TN technology has improved leaps and bounds over the last 5 years.
