Recommend a 55" LED TV

Intend to replace my hitachi 42" Plasma TV to a 55" Led TV, looking at LG, Samsung and sharp. Mainly for Normal TV watching, Football and sometimes may watch some movie. With or without 3D and smart TV is OK, budget around 2K+, can some expert recommend a value for money TV. Thank you.

Since you are using it for basic needs then you can conside LG lower end Smart TV series i.e. LV31, LV3730, LV21, LW45...these are all below 2K. SS Series 5 & 6 can be considered too. Not so much for Sharp though...with the same price which Sharp is charging, you may be able to get Smart TV or 3D function on LG or SS TV.

I just got myself at 60inch Sharp (60LE630M) for $2850. No 3D or Smart features. I saw it at HN next to the Samsung D6600 and though the Samsung looks sharper, the Sharp's picture was more detailed and had nicer more natural colours . It was half the price of the 60 inch Samsung D6600 which no doubt was a Smart tv and had 3D.
Bought it from Hong Liang.

Hi, I'm looking for a similar TV and budget.... can share with me what you have decided or bought and what pros and cons you discovered?

much thanks..... I saw the Sharp 52" and like it more also and it has an additional small subwoofer speaker for that better sounding normal TV watching .....

I believe the cheapest >50" LED TV is from Philips. ebay is selling at abt S$2000. Philips 52PFL8605
This is not the best though. I believe currently the best for value LED TV (w/o 3d) is the LG LW9500. It shd cost abt S$2500.

Hi xthene, i've been looking for the lw9500 but unfortunately, due to the limited number brought into SG, most places i've been no longer have stock. Any idea where there still is?

Thanks!

Courts Tampines still have it last week. But they're selling at $2799, so no point, might as well get other models

Hi,
Can let me know how is the performance of TV so far?
I also interested to get that model. $2850 is pretty good deal as other selling $3099.

Where did you get it and is it any installment plan available at where you got yours?

Thanks

I'm also looking for 55" TV. Shortlisted 2 model from Courts, both 55" with one selling at $2599 wile other at $3299. I was told the main different is its frequency, one is 60Hz while the more expensive is 100Hz. Quite frankly, i cannot see any diff but the sales guy insist that if view normal tv program, it make a hole lots of difference in the freq.

Can anyone confirm on this?

I can tell a bit of difference between 60hz and 100hz. Then again, how smooth motion appears also depends on the quality of the chips in the TV itself and not just the hz rating.
