Hi,
My friend was recommended the following specs for his PC at a ridiculous price, but we know some parts aren't that good.
Any recommendations on other parts/brands to upgrade/change?
Budget around $1.6 - $1.8k.
Thanks in advance! :)

Edit: $1.6-1.8k just for the CPU.
Feel free to recommend monitors as well.

cpu non K , have effect on resale value later , don't be fooled by the "up to 4ghz" ... it is UP TO ... when all threads in use it is 10% less
ram can get cheaper from amazon ... about half price $80.50 only *
that SSD is the cheapest range , tbh review not good
power supply can change to other better value-for-money while retaining quality
hold off graphic card purchase , newer graphics coming in very soon

could have changed the i7 to i5 6500 and gotten a 390x/wait for 1080/1070 instead, but not really a total ripoff.

6700 + asus H170 - 652
Corsair Vengeance 2400 16GB - 149
Zotac 240GB SSD - 109
Zotac GTX970 - 409
WD black 1TB - 113
Seasonic G650 650W psu - 169
Corsair 330R casing - 149

Sama sama with better spec cost ard S$ ~1700 plus minus the monitor. I think more gurus here can do a better spec with lesser price. If your friend was charge close to $4K for this, ask the person who quote him this price to come here and we will screw him up side down. :D

And no, i do not see the need why you need to go for 6700K. The "K" behind doesn't impact much when you want to sell it off. But the extra 4 threads will help.

don't really like the PSU. for the price, might as well change to modular. make ur casing more neat.

He was quoted a high $3k+, almost $4k.
Which is probably enough to build 2 PCs..

All businesses add a mark-up. Whether the profit margin reasonable or not, up to customer to determine. If can chop a less informed customer's carrot, just chop, which business won't btw?

Of course now ask the SLS experts and pros, everything including the above average markup gets exposed. :s13:
