Currently on-hand my current specs

MB:gigabyte X58-UD3R
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Ram: 8GB
GPU: GTX460
HDD: 2x 500 GB
SSD:2 x 80GB

Looking to upgrade for games e.g. Mechwarrior online, world of tanks, world of warships, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, Assassin Creed, The Division, Xcom 2, Middle Earth:Shadow of War...Currently these are the ones i can think of

MB: need more
Processor: i7 or i5 but friend recommends i7 in-case of programs background running
Ram: 16 gb(is it recommended) but how much MHz?
GPU: looking more towards MSI 1070 not sure is it reliable or what other brands
HDD: unsure
SSD: unsure
OS: i think need to re-buy Win 10 OS

Budget: 2k or less than 2k asap

Maybe you try upgrade your GPU and see whether you can play those games smoothly or not.

If i set to ingame default graphic recommendations, then it will freeze or black out the whole system or in the division by default, it will be lagging unlike previously my KO-ed GTX760. Currently all the games i now playing to very low for smooth fps at 60

Less than 2K not enough for i7... Maybe getting GTX 1070Ti might be better... Or utilize Amazon Prime EVGA 1070 and Ram kits... Hmmm

Buy budget ram kit for intel enough. H7 non lumi is good enough too.

850 ssd if price difference is big. Get zotac 1070 on qoo10 with vouchers.
Tecware case can save a few bucks with multiple built in fans.

Just a couple of suggestions off my mind.

Amazon Prime Now SG selling GTX 1080 at 675 SGD currently. Although I believe there is no local warranty.

But my current system specs can handle the 10xx series gpu?
Actually, this will largely depend on the graphic card
The issue is whether the Graphic Card can suport legacy non UEFI bios.
X58 should be non UEFI

Recemtly tried a GTX780 on a Giga X58 Motherboard and it worked

So the best bet is to call up tech support from the distributors to ask them that question. :p

Ryzen scales well with ram clock speed, kopi lake doesnt. So its pretty pointless dishing out more moolah when it can be better spent on other things IMHO.

oh...i see...but i checked online as the PCI-E is ver 2.0 GPUs while the 10xx series is using ver 3.0...think it is unusable or so for the older MBs

maybe if u are using 8100 or 8400. even then 2666mhz ram improves performance by a lot.
if u are going 8600k +, it makes no sense to get below 3000mhz ram.

Sir can sic source? I always learned that intel cpu doesnt scale well with high mhz ram in price/performance ratio.
