Hey guys, anyone have any recommendations for mobo replacement? my mobo has been around for i think around 3-4 years and it just got fried =/, anyone have any recommendations for a good enough mobo+processor?

I'm looking at at least an i5 with an ATX sized mobo, my main uses are movies/dota 2/music and internet surfing, nothing heavy usage haha, my budget would be around $400, lower better haha

I'm currently on an i5-2400 and biostar TH67XE using a coolermaster elite 310 casing

Thanks so much!!

Hi, I'm not really sure haha, its just because I'm using an ATX casing so i just thought it would make sense to up to an atx mobo as well, I'm also thinking might as well upgrade my processor to 6th gen at the same time. do you feel it is necessary?

I'm quite noob at this

if u require the processing power by all means upgrade.. sb to skylake is quite significant. If go for this u will need to replace ram motherboard too.

on the other hand u can get cheap parts for replacement @ market place..

of cos if money is not issue just get a new system..

I'm just thinking of upgrading my mobo/cpu and gfx haha, my current system is

FSP aurum 500w gold - which i think no need to replace
Biostar TH67XE w/ i5 2400
Kingston 2 x 4GB DDR3-1333 CL9 Ram
Sapphire HD 6870 w/ twin frzr fan - thinking of replacing
CM 310 casing

its because my computer is showing blue screens and all and I am not able to start up now, plus my set up is from 2011 till now so I think its time for an upgrade. But I am budgeting $400 for mobo first, not so sure on upgrading gfx yet as my gaming not heavy anyway

Sandy Bridge to Skylake is a 20-25% IPC upgrade but mind that you are also going to spend 3-4x over a single motherboard replacement too. And you also need new DDR4 RAM which will add higher to the cost.

And your BSoD problem maybe due to aging RAM or graphics card. So better conduct a check first to sniff out the culprit. If indeed either one is the culprit, it will seem wasteful on upgrading to Skylake.

Run memtest for RAM, GPU-Z stress test for GPU.

Even if you wish a brief upgrade, a SSD will see far more improvement.

How can I do that if I am not able to boot up even =/ I'm really new at this so i would need alot of walk through haha

I feel that I would just upgrade the parts la haha, just to keep it going for the next 4- years

theres a response, but when it loads it either blue screens or brings me to windows repair, and then when i try to reset the OS it goes to 1% and then error
More like something wrong with HDD?

Use another PC download and burn a disc of SeaTool to run a diagnostic test on the HDD.
