Recommendations for MVNOs for Roaming

Hi guys, need a recommendation for a NVMO for Malaysia roaming.

Its for my car android headunit, just needs data for Waze, Spotify, Netflix etc. I am currently using Simba SuperRoam MY at $13 per month. Connectivity in Singapore is relatively ok, only suffers a bit around BKE/SLE area.

Connectivity in Malaysia is crap though, 70% of the time there is no connection along areas like Pasir Gudang Highway, even B Point just after Msia checkpoint.

Anyone familiar with the NVMOs and roaming in Malaysia can share your recommendations? 4G is sufficient, the headunit doesn't support 5G.

what is NVMOs? or are you referring to MVNO ?

Get a local prepaid card if you go Msia often.. i.e hotlink? i have that too ..

Can consider Maxx, Eight or ZYM plans comes with Msia roam

LOL yes bro indeed i meant MVNO. Paiseh! Not too familiar with the terms.

I use Yoodo on my main phone, but for my car android, would prefer something local with roaming. The unit can only take one sim card hence would be troublesome if i buy a local prepaid card and gotta keep switching.

you may see people's experiences roaming with eight in the eight thread. I've roamed with eight and simba in Johor before.

for eight, i roamed at Kluang Johor. Not bad quite fast, but when i was on the way back to Singapore, on the small road that connects to NSH, i got E on my network, pretty slow. I assume and think that it's because of that area quite ulu, so having E is pretty normal. I think the road ia Jalan Koti-tinggi - Kluang

using Simba on mobile is fine in Jb driving there are bound to be blind spots when driving especially some highways

Indeed bro. I am leaning towards Eight as well. I figured nothing to lose anyway, if it proves to be worse than Simba then i will just return to Simba. No termination fees anyway.

Yup i have no need for talktime. Eight's dataplan is stupid though. Same cost as the normal plans, and they simply take away call time/sms etc. Not sure what's the point. I might as well sign up for the normal plan just in case one day i need the sim card for other uses

For some reason mine is especially worse bro. Just driving around in JB city... always no connection. I like to use Waze on my headunit hence its quite irritating when you want to navigate around and there's no connection

But i know that sometimes Manual selection of roaming partner to Cellcom is better than auto selection, give it a try.

Ahh ok, maybe i should consider the option of using standalone router instead of the sim card directly in the headunit. I tried it out previously on another car but felt the speeds were a little slow compared to inserting the sim card directly into the unit but that might have been the router being an old model.
