Recommendations for solo 5d4n trip?

Hi all, will be travelling to taiwan next monday, landing at TPE in the morning.

will be staying at taipei for 5 days,have been to taipei before.
currently considering of going yangmingshan, danshui
Any suggestions on what places to visit as a solo traveller?
also, is it feasible to do a day trip to taichung, maybe either to cingjing or sun moon lake by HSR & bus, and then back to taipei at night?

Day trip to SML and back to taipei? That means you go there, have lunch, then come back?
So, means not possible for your "day trip".
To and from Taipei to SML is at least 2 days, otherwise no point going.

Noted, in that case I guess I'll just go to places around taipei

cingjing still doable. remember to get he bus package below taichung HSR station. provided you take the 8:30 or 9am train, otherwise no point.

if you love nature and hiking, you can easily spend one full day at yangmingshan. i usually spend 2 days. it is cooler up there too.

Yangmingshan
Beitou
Wulai
Jiufen, Shifen, Pixi
Yehliu
Keelung
Damshui
Within Taipei, old streets.

Agree lol, no point doing day trip to middle of tw, it's too far away.
Day trip must have enough time to enjoy without wasting half a day on travel.

Day trip to jiufen and shifen, if can stay 1 night will be the best.
Day trip to Yehliu and Keelung.
This 2 day trip should be enough for your 5d4n trip.
The rest will be in Taipei.

Slowly explore yms is good.but rem to bring enough water.. nearly got dehydrated back in may..

there are free water refill stations and you can buy drinks too.

Before I went out, I always put 2 cold bottle drink/water in my backpack, then when pass by drink stall, just buy to replace empty bottle.

but is it everywhere in the park? actually, in taroko, many parts of it are not considered national park, especially along the highway.

If you wnat to have a day trip to Cingjin farm and SML by public transport, it will take lots of time on transport. I think it is better stay for one night or hire a private driver.

天祥 is definitely part of it.

anyway, the original discussion was on yangmingshan. taroko is the chinamen area which i don't visit but many singaporeans love

yes, if you want drinks everywhere, then hike along highway 8 of the taroko gorge.
