Hi all,

I've been out of the loop for quite some time now, so I need some help for recommendations on the best router I can get.

It's meant to be used in a small office of about 12 pax, with multiple connections per person (desktop, tablet, iphone...). Also, there are plenty of internal transfers of files going on from one person to another. We also have a NAS and print server. Currently, we're running a Singnet business fibre 100mbps connection.

There's no limit on the budget. I want something that is first and foremost stable, and secondly, fast. I was looking at the Asus RT-AC3200 but I understand that there are stability issues?

Lastly, it would be great if the router is easily available i.e. I can just walk into SLS and buy it.

Thanks in advance!

For me, I still stick with ASUS. No matter what, wifi signal strength is good n throughput is fast. IP cameras works very well with ASUS somemore

Here are my suggestions bro.

If youre using a Singnet business fibre, I would assume you have a modem router, which means the NAT routing is already being taken cared of by the ISP-provided modem router.

What you need is a Wireless AP which can provide you more management, security and control features. A consumer wifi router is usually designed for maximum bandwidth for each user and much less on management.

Here are the application scenarios which you might need in the future.

1. VLAN with Multiple SSID - to segregate your users probably by group for security purposes. Finance and HR may have their own SSID, from the rest.

2. AP isolation - You may want to make sure that each user will not be sharing their files or folders by mistake.

3. Rate Limit/Bandwidth Control - You may want to manage bandwidth per SSID evenly depending on priority. This is to avoid one person infected with virus, using all the office bandwidth that may cause the whole network to shutdown.IT or admin may require more bandwidth from your 100mbps because they do lot of downloading.

4. Band Steering - you may want that your AP will automatically detect if the client device has a 5Ghz client adapter and will automatically force the client to connect to 5Ghz band. in that way, you avoid the interference issues in a 2.4Ghz band.

etc etc etc

You dont need to buy an enterprise wifi like Cisco/Aruba for this bro. You can buy an SMB (small and medium business) AP in the market or in Challenger shops at Funan.

I proposed to use Linksys AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router.
