Thinking of upgrading and passing on parts of my current rig to my dad/sis...

Will be used for 1440p gaming and school work involving cyber forensics.

Proc/MB: i5 4670K + MSI Z87-G45
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
PSU: Corsair AX760
Case: Corsair 750D
SSD: Re-use
ODD: Re-use

Can't decide... :s22:
RAM: G.Skill RipJaws-X 2x4GB 1600MHz / Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1600MHz
GPU: MSI R9 290 Gaming / Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X / Asus 780 DCUII

If i were you, swap out the AX760 for a RM650 or Superflower HX600. This will be more ideal for you. AX760 is a waste.

Take the Gskills.

GPU Sapphire is out due to the 2 years warranty. The price does not differ much from Gigabyte where it is only $15 more for 3 years.

Asus 780 also depends. If you willing to pay more go ahead.

If not the next available option would be either MSI or Giga.

MSI got this GPU boost features on their mobo.

msi was never loud in market. They are the quietest among the other brands.

Look no further liao. Msi.

1440p r9 290 will be slightly better value. And comes with a 4gb VRAM unlike the gtx780.

If you need to xfire in future then you should not be looking at 700w type of PSU.

For this 2 cards you should be looking at the 850w PSU. RM850 would be around $199.

seasonic x850's sleeved cables seems like a better choice over the rm850.. hopefully got stock this weekend!

Seasonic gt no custom made sleeve cables.... Only corsair have ready made for RM,AX, etc series.

Unless u order frm congrade custom cables.
