Planning to take the bus and train combo from taipei city hall to luodong to xincheng at 6am. Then hike taroko gorge and end the night at hualien. Spend the next day around hualien city. Return on the evening, total 2 day 1 nights. Anyone did this itinerary before?

I usually do 3天三夜.
Bus combo, waste time, rather do train direct.
Moreover dun need change here n there.
Fw79 and i did tpe to luodong and they do not stop at luodong station, still a distance away. Instead of moving on by rail, we had an adventure by driving from luodong to hualien to taitung.
Shiok!
You can drive too!

Help needed in Taroko Gorge one-day trip

Hi all, I'm planning to visit Taroko Gorge on an one-day trip from Taipei, likely to reach Xincheng Railway stn at 11plus in the morning.

Plan to visit 4 places - Shakadang, Buluowan, Swallow Cave, and Tianxiang using the Taroko Bus #302 plying:

TRA Xingcheng Station→Taroko→Taroko National Park→Shakadang→Creekside→Swallow Cave→Cihmu Bridge→Heliou Camping Zone→Lushui→Tianxiang

Will likely board the 1120 or 1300 bus #302 at xincheng stn.
Not too sure how long it takes to visit each place, but is it possible to finish them all and hop on the last bus at 6.50pm at Tianxiang?

Also, is it possible to walk to Buluowan from Swallow Cave? since this bus doesn't stop at Buluowan.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! With bus also quite late. No doubt some attractions are within walking distance, but do note, there are no specific path for walkers. They are roads for buses, cars and trucks.
So will advise you to join local tour or hire a driver for Taroko exploration.

Not possible. Check the Taroko Gorge website. They have suggested time / duration for each attraction.

swallow Grotto takes 50mins, may take longer if you stop to take photos and/or rest.

You board the 1pm bus, can only do one attraction. If lucky, maybe two. Shakadang, one way in is 4.5km. How long you take to walk 4.5km? The distance between Buluowan and Swallow Grotto is 3.6km. 3.6km you want to walk?
