Recommendations where to go

Before this I did thought of doing Alishan first then head down to Fenqihu and back to Chiayi. But we have to take the direct bus from Alishan to SML so we go by this way instead :

Chiayi > Take bus to Fenqihu (1 night) > Next day noon take bus/train to Alishan (1 night) > Next morning sunrise and noon take bus to SML

Is there anything to do at night at Fenqihu?
Any highly recommend places to go in Fenqihu / Alishan / SML? =)

Night time can only see the darkness outside your hotel window...

Fenqihu is a small town. Basically, you don't need to stay 2 days in Alishan area, just 1 night in Fenqihu or 1 night in alishan will do. Go in the morning, next day afternoon can go SML liao.
If you stay in Fenqihu, going for sunrise train, you need to wake up at 3am and there isn't much transport to alishan.

But since we are coming up from Chiayi and leaving from Alishan, thought it might be a hassle to travel from Fenqihu to Alishan for hours to and fro. Because we are also carrying all our luggage along with us

We will be staying in Fenqihu for a night at Yahu Hotel and Alishan for a night at Shermuh Hotel. We are coming down from Kaohsiung.

1) We intend to take the 11AM bus up to Fenqihu, expected to reach about 1PM. I did google and got to know that the following is nearby our Fenqihu Hotel - Fenqihu Trial, Alishan National Scenic Area, Fenqihu Old Street, Fenqihu Historical Exhibition. Since we have the whole day in Fenqihu, not sure if we need such a long time to tour the three mentioned attractions. We also wish to visit Everlasting Bridge and ChiKung Temple. Is it more feasible for us to travel from Fenqihu or from Alishan? How can we reach there by public transport?

2) The next day, we will be heading up to Alishan by bus at 11.30AM. Check in hotel and then out to Alishan Forest Recreation Area, Alishan Forest Recreation Area, Scared Tree / Sacred Tree Route, Sister Lake, Ciyun Temple, Suspension Bridge. Can we complete these within a day?

3) The next morning, we would really love to witness and experience the sea of clouds in Alishan (We do understand it depends on the weather itself). In order to see that, should we visit Zhushan or Yushan?

Will be travelling in 3 weeks time. Need help and advices on this asap pls!

i understand the bento is over-rated. u can try if u feel rich, else just skip it and spend on something else more worthy.

That's why staying a night at alishan is a better idea. Check in your hotel/ minsu, tour around alishan and Fqh for 2d1n.

i understand the bento is over-rated. u can try if u feel rich, else just skip it and spend on something else more worthy.

Will only have a day to be exact or lesser. The day we head up to Alishan, will take up half day already and the next day we will be leaving for SML so don't think have the time to tour.

Any idea if Tian Chang Di Jiu bridge is more feasible going from Fenqihu or Alishan?

everlasting bridge is at chaiyi. Consider foot of the mountain. Bus won't stop there. U have to take pte veh n request stop there. Cos not every pte veh will make a stop there

Thanks for your reply! So there is no way to get to Everlasting bridge from Alishan or Fenqihu? Is it worth going there?

fenqihu is middle
bridge is bottom

if u go by car, (either from alishan down to chaiyi OR chaiyi up to alishan, u will bypass the bridge) but u haf to tell the driver to stop there. if u carpool, den haf to see if other ppl want to stop anot


imho, just a normal bridge only. ppl go there because of the tian chang di jiu wordings

should b ard 6pm. mountain area, after sunset, very easy fall into darkness
plus,u need to wake up very early for sunrise, after dinner, at the most can only shop for another 1hr only.


recommend to slp ard 8-9pm,ifnot the next day u will b very tired
