Recommended DIY PC Build for $800

Hi All,

My 6 years old pc is causing me problem (random freeze, auto shutdown) and i wish to get new pc and use back some of the parts such as my gpu (palit gtx970), ssd (samsung 840 120gb) and hdd (samsung 500gb).

Seek your expert advice to recommend a DIY Gaming PC build.
Likely will buy and get assembly help from SLS.

Purpose:
> Mid-tier gaming
> movies


Other requirements:
no need monitor (1440p) no need accessories. wont overclock. i5 good enough. best can below $800. if ram (ddr4) can buy online cheaper may consider buying online but overall still need help from SLS to assemble pc.

Case not reusing. Too rusty plus dusty liao. Yup cpu mobo ram psu case

Hi all, sorry to bump my old post. My pc was working fine but then late at night random restart and then cant boot to bios. Mobo no light, no beep, but fan spin. Swap ram slot, remove gpu, all cant boot bios.

Any help? I suspect mobo spoil. If possible can recommend mobo(cheapest) to replace while other parts just use back?

Suggest you search for the motherboard on Taobao.

Alternatively, you can consider selling off the CPU (not much market value now though) and upgrade to Ryzen CPU + MB.

Recommend you get motherboard w iGPU. In case yr current GPU is about to uplorry too.

Hard to say if its motherboard or PSU at this stage since you say nothing is lighting up nor fans are spinning. Do you have any other hardware to use to troubleshoot?

A spare PSU is where I would start,...

Quite noob on diy pc. I am thinking just go simlim to repair or get it replaced. Just scare chop carrot. Just wanna do some homework first.

Gpu still working fine. If gpu spoil i still able to know how to replace. Just mobo quite complicated not very sure.

Fans are spinning. Can hear hard disk spinning also. Ram just bought this yr.
