5 a week might be barely adequate for ink printers, but as long as you maintain this, it should be okay. Just don't let the print head dry up.

If you don't need colour at all, suggestion is to go with a laser instead.

Just randomly clicking around, Brother MFC-1910W SRP is $198. Retail probably lower.

I'll pay $20 more for the DCP-L2535DW ($218) though, cos it has a duplexer built in. But look around cos you can get cheaper than retail price, especially during sales. Black Friday is coming up.

Consumable retail cost.

Toner, can buy 3rd party TN2480 cheaply for less than $25.

I use the duplexer enough to consider it important. it saves paper by automatically printing double-sided (no need to manually flip and reprint odd/even and all that hassle).

For school notes and a lot of reading, it's quite normal for me to print 2in1 double sided to save paper. Paper, the last time I ordered 70gsm paper from Amazon.sg for $3.80 a ream, free delivery. Seems like price has gone up to $4/ream now. But still, free delivery is a good thing for Amazon Prime members. :)

For inkjet, if you want to print double-sided, I don't recommend 70gsm paper - 80gsm at least (cos ink is "wet"). That means more paper cost.

Heh. It's getting more difficult to print in office nowadays, cos offices are also trying to cut costs.

Many offices now log print jobs for review, tied to usernames/machine IP addresses. And some also retain the spool jobs so they can retrieve what the printed document is by re-printing it.
