Recommended step down transformer brands

I wanted to buy a US imported Dyson, but Dyson advised against it as "there are too many low grade transformers" that might damage the motor. May I check if there is any reputable brand that I can look out for? Have been sourcing around but most don't even have a brand indicated on it.

Not bashing local brand, this brand is strictly no for me.

Opened up a few of their failed product, throw them away without trying to repair.

I was initially had the same thought as well, but give up becuz read somewhere the suction power will be affected. I like the upright vacuum but its not selling here. Try get from UK?

Take note that this transformer will stop working once it is over-heated (thermal fuse) and you have to wait for it to cool down before you can start using it again. Good quality (bought one for use on badger air brush with 110V iwata air compressor) but can be quite expensive.

Looks good, tested at twice rated power so should be safe. Did not state whether it is isolation transformer but should be the case considering the bulk.

Amazon has a few very good power converters. Look for ELC, seven stars, they have resettable fuses and fssg. I have elc 1000W and works for three yr 24/7 till now.

as usual... factor in shipping cost + whatever component to make it work + no warranty(bulky item forget about warranty)

ELC was founded in 2014 and you have actually used their transformer for 3 years now, it means that you actually bought a product with little or no proven track record of the product at the time of your purchase.

Based on what I have read in various forums, recommendation on the size of the transformer needed is 2X the rated watts of the equipment that you want to connect to and majority of the users in those forums gave bad reviews on China made transformers.

For the transformer that I am using, it is not required to have a 2X the rated watts of the equipment that I am using and I feel safer with a thermal fuse.

Some appliances from US are not universal supply, have to step down to use. It could be unavailable locally or highly marked up.

TS is looking at a Dyson product (can be vacuum, fan, hair dryer, hand dryer). I doubt UK pricing is vastly overpriced to its US counterpart.
