dont know is it me or what , but the leather feels.. thin to me , look and feel so weak .

Actually when I first tried fitting both, Dr Martens is really comfortable (more than RW 875) and I assume these are MIC/MIT ones, as I heard that the UK made ones are very hard to break in and very uncomfortable. Also the 875 upper was like cutting into my calf muscles.

Anyway the SA at Suntec RW store, do they measure in UK or US sizes? I was told mine is 8 and have wide feet so that should be a 8E, but I don't know if it's UK or US. Also I tried on Beckman and I couldn't fit, because the shoe was too narrow :/

I've some questions and I hope some kind soul can answer. :)

I previously mentioned that the SA at Suntec said my feet are wide (after measuring my feet) and I fit okay into 8E 875 with minimal heel slippage. She said that a proper fitting will have some heel slippage. Anyway, I went to Dr Martens at OC and tried on a pair of 1460s, which were a size 8D (DMs only have 1 width size) and they fit pretty snug - not tight not loose with medium thickness socks.

Are the widths for Red Wing boots measured different from other brands or was the SA being conservative? Should I get a 8E or a 8D?

Hi all, I'm interested to get a good and durable pair of boots for everyday wear and my main concern is the ability to resole it conveniently. Hence I've narrowed down my choices to Dr Martens' "For Life" 1460s and Red Wing's 875s. I understand that both are made in China now so I shouldn't expect too much, but does anyone have experience with both of them and which is a better choice for durability?
875 is still made in USA, i think.

Only a few safety boots are outsourced to china

revolveclothing do they provide free shipping and you got buy before? scared that they sell bad quality :(

i didn't buy from them. but i reckon the quality issue shouldn't be a concern as they are quite reputable. infact, i regret not buying from them as they not only provide free shipping but also 30% discount off from your first purchase.

the leather is thinner and less sturdy than RW, that's why doc marts feel more comfortable initially.

But once your RW break in, they will feel just as comfortable or maybe even better.

Just my 2 cents

Having 2 pairs of 1460 and a pair of 8102, I feel that 1460s do have soles which are more flexible, whereas 8102 has a sturdier sole.
But both are decent shoes lar.
