Your RWs have survived a 9 on the richter scale. Truly a story to tell the kids. I wouldn't clean em one bit!

Sorry if anybody have already asked this. Is there a way to repair or replace the sole of a pair of red wings boots?

can you really differentiate between 875 and 8131 on the street?
i have 875 but i'm thinking of getting 8131 ORO-RUSSET PORTAGE.
If too similar then i'll save my money. Any opinion?

Ehh must apply mink oil for how many times? 2 or 3?
in my opinion, try not to use mink oil..

i was once a mink oil supporter also. until i read that mink oil actually soften the leather because of the fatty acid in the mink oil, and that makes it less lasting and prone to rot. mink oil "waterproofs" the leather by blocking the pores also. which is not ideal as it should be left open to be breatheable. afterall, the tannery spent hours and processes to get rid of the oil and its hard to understand why we are putting it back.

now i use obenauf's LP which has better reviews everywhere and people swear by it. i just started switching to LP so i cant tell the immediate difference.

just my 2cents

yup, most mink oils contain chemical substances that are harmful to leather fibers.

Would definitely recommend obenauf LP as well. its very effective in repelling water better and longer, it penetrates deeply into leather rather than blocking the pores and it contains no harmful silicones and petroleums.
