Red Wing shoe Thread

hi guys,

i just bought the RW cleaner to clean my Moc Toe 8131, but i can't remove the dark/black patches and some of them are like bigger than 50c size.

previously, i only just wipe the shoes with dry/damp cloth.

and there are quite abit of creases on the flat part of the shoes, are those signs of cracks?

any tips and tricks to remove them, or any advice at all?

Of course there will be creases la. The walk human walk sure crease one what.. No, it's not sign on cracking. The first thing that will happen is the side leather that is being glued together will open which is nothing to be concerned.

haha i see but my creases are quite bad. i've seen a few pictures of others and they don't have creases and looks really nice.

any ideas on how to clean up the black/dark patches?

Interested in getting a pair of red wings but do they go well with chinos? I know they look good with denim for sure.

That depends on the color? I have 875 that I wear with beige chinos. Looks really good haha

hi all! recently purchased a pair of 8138 and is very satisfied! (though needs some breaking in to get more comfy)
however can someone advise me on what products to get to maintain my pair of RW? I initially wanted to drop by the outlet at suntec but i just found out it has closed down, :/
for now i'm only wiping it with warm water!
is there anywhere else i can buy RW leathcare products?

edit: i'm thinking of getting the leather protector(97108) to coat a layer over my RW, then i'm not sure what else to get from there onwards...

Well, I'm currently using obernauf LP, thanks to the recommendations by this thread when I got my first 875 ^^

Do wait for the reply from others who have the same boots, just to be sure.

hmmm, so besides wiping with warm water, i'll need a horsehair brush too? shoe tree(cedar) to put into when im not wearing,
for conditioner its either coconut oil or obernauf?
do you guys waterproof your shoes for wear in singapore? ._.

haha i do have a horsehair brush cuz its gets really dusty easily at my house. a few days, can see dust accumulating on the moc toe of 875 alr.

I currently use obernauf for waterproof and protection, now after i see the post, im not sure if i should change.

so i went down to shukey this afternoon and got some tarrago mink oil from the very nice shopkeeper! he's very patient and insist that mink oil is sufficient to keep my RW good(LOL i was being kiasu and keep wanting to look at his other products).

so i got home and got to lubing my RW and i have to say, maybe it's because its leather or something? but the colour of my RW isnt one whole colour/shade all over anymore, i dunno how to phrase it but there are some darker spots and all


any extra advice people?

Mink oil will be sufficient, but u need to apply it evenly of course mink oil will darken color. Note even redwing recommends and sell mink oil
Even Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP darken leather.
Rub it evenly in to obtain same shade
