Surprise find when i'm about to throw away the shoe box.

I guess amazon didn't really "check" and put in the note with those boots but is a QC note from red wing itself.

Hey, i'm new to the boots thing but i want to get a redwings as my 1st boots. Any tips and tricks such as taking care, cleaning, etc? Also any special recommendation like what model, other brands and such?

Look up for 875, most common one. Cleaning - > warm water wipe, air dry, horsehair brush to scrub away the dirt, mink oil/obenauf, leave to dry, scrub again.

i've seen some people replacing the waxed shoelaces from the Beckman shoes to leather ones. do you guys change your laces?

Just imagining it.. Beckman with leather laces looks weird imo. Definitely prefer the waxed flat laces. Changed my moc toe laces to leather one, the taslan lace was just too weak.

Googled and found this post ( and another which I didn't post link) below where Shukey Far East the "authorised" resoler (such a word?) for Red Wing Shoes singapore stitched the sole through the inside sole of the shoe! Whole point of good year welt is to keep the stitching to the outside welt and maintain waterproof ness.

Anyone can add resoling examples of your own to verify the lousy workmanship at their "authorised" cobbler? I bought redwing GT beckman and postman oxford with the understanding from the shop at Orchard Gateway that I am looking at a resolable shoe and Shukey can do a good resoling....have we been taken for a ride?

At Far East Plaza, was recommended by a friend who had his RW resole there too

as you can see below shukey hasnt been doing very well...which i kind of agree coz my last chukkas done the sewing wasnt great...worst case scenario probably is sending back the boots..

Anyway despite being the 'authorised' resoler for redwing, their service kinda suck, skeptical about putting my boots in their hands.

Word of advice, if you intend to resolve your boots because of what they've been through with you, send to UK/jp. Do note that the cost of doing can probably buy you another new pair or even more. If you just wanna trash your boots till cui, pay the 90 bucks at shukey sua. Don't waste your moolah. I'm still torn between this 2 options though...

Your best option right now is to get redwing singapore to send them back to US for resole, but it will cost you quite abit.

Anyone knows how much for Beckman resoling? Heard it is about 200SGD.

I emailed Shukey about this and their reply was good to hear.

"We do it both ways depending very much depending on the budget of our customers as you know it take a lot more time and effort stitching through the good year welt and also very much depends on how much wear and tear is done to your original sole we have some instances where the damage is worn right to the welt which leaves us with no choice. Thank you."

Just received my boots from Dahl. Both pairs were bought as seconds. But just open and check both are first grade. Will take pictures later.

For fun, yes I did. But it didn't absorb the oil. Hahaha. I believe it's stronger though.
