Hi all,

I have amassed almost 200k of CitiMiles over the past few years but i jave never redeemed them before.

If i intend to travel to Adelaide in June, so i just transfer the miles to KF account and then redeem it on the selected dates that i want? Also heard that it is not confirmed yet until closer to the date? How does that work?

If flying on SQ, you just transfer the miles to your KF account and choose your desired flight dates. You can choose between Saver and Standard redemption. Saver uses less miles but has very limited inventory. Your flights are confirmed unless it's waitlisted.

If it's waitlisted, it means there are currently no available seats for redemption and you'll be in the waiting list till further notice. You can choose Standard but it's not worth it...

Depends on what class you getting. Business class open up closer to the date. First class opens up earlier. But for both you should book early. Also, you can kind of forget saver redemption if you are traveling in peak season, such as June. There are a lot more opening if you travel during off peak seasons.

You can try, I doubt they will have any seats available in June for saver redemption. It's pretty peak travel period.

I did my very first CitiMiles redemption 2 months ago. Steps are as follow:
1. Check airlines on the redemption chart. For SQ do call Krisflyer customer service and check what is the exact miles required.
2. Then login to KF check if your redemption can be made (there's online 15% discount if i am not mistaken). Its either available, waitlist, or not available at all.
3. If seats are available then you can transfer the exact miles to from Citi to KF. Miles will be in KF in 2-3 days after that you can make your redemption.

Even if SQ is not available you may try other airlines as Citimiles can be redeemed on quite a number of airlines.

If the redemption shows "available" then you can redeem immediately. If it shows "waitlist" then your flight is not confirmed.

Savers have very limited availability... some popular flights SQ may allocate just 2-3 seats under Savers.

Now SQ got promo to some AUstralia cities even in June, for as low as $600+ to $70+.

If that is the case, then it is not that worth it to redeem my miles for such promo tix right? Because i am using miles to offset a promo price ticket, as compared to using the same number of miles to redeem a non-promo ticket.

Is that how it works? Taxes and surcharge still gotta pay out of pocket.

Not necessary. I had 4 J savers for June period for SIN - SFO (end May to be exact).

As usual, it is more value for money to redeem for business class or first class rather than economy class.
