Xiaomi Redmi K60 series will stick to Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, report claims

The Redmi K50 series arrived in March with Mediatek chipsets in vanilla and Pro versions. The Ultra eventually followed in August with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and reports are the incoming Redmi K60 series will have a phone with the 2021 flagship platform by Qualcomm.

According to Digital Chat Station, the series is already in the design verification testing phase, and once the internal design is confirmed to be safe, manufacturing will follow.

The tipster has a great track record, also said the alleged phone, which may be even the vanilla Redmi K60, will come with a 2K screen, which is how some Chinese people mistakenly refer to QHD+ resolution. We are also looking at a 5,500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging over the wire and 30W wireless.

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the Redmi K60 lineup. Right after Apple’s event, the Redmi boss and Xiaomi China president William Lu asked his followers on Weibo whether they want a Dynamic Island feature on the Redmi K60 phones. Reports are that Xiaomi is already working on it, and will introduce it soon.

How much is this ?
I bought it when it first came out, naturally it will be quite expensive. $860 after coupons in Shopee for the 12/ 256GB variant.

If you intend to go for this, do have a look at the below first.

What gizmo is saying is mostly true. It's rather plasticky for flagship phone at this price point. The camera is not that bad, quite decent at worst case scenario. The display screen on paper looks good, but lacks vibrancy even though at high settings, probably because of China oled. That's what i think, but probably i expect alot from the screen. But direct sunlight, peak brightness is really good, so is touch screen and refresh rate.

The performance of this phone of course without doubt one of the best. What you see on the reviews benchmark test and gaming test, that's what you get. Also Netflix L1, safety net also all good.

The only thing i disagree with Gizmo is he recommend K60 instead or K60 pro. I would say go for K50U instead of K60 pro, price wise. If you really want the new SD 8 Gen2, my bet is on OnePlus 11. It's an all rounder, slightly expensive than K60 PRO but not that much. Nice looking phone as well. Too bad my wife doesn't want the OnePlus as she wants to try the Xiaomi OS

Hi, thinking of getting this phone as well, any issues using the phone in singapore esp google pay and playstore ? Did you flash miui.eu rom ?
No issues so far. Google play works fine, singpass app also all good. Netflix widevine L1 as well. Didn't try the eu.rom coz it wasn't available back then.

Do feedback the performance if you manage to flash it

Redmi "K60 Ultra" destined for 144Hz display and Dimensity 9200 Plus SoC in latest leak

The supposedly upcoming Redmi K60 Ultra may have 100W charging for its 5,000mAh battery, whereas its closest predecessor, which launched as the Xiaomi 12T Pro for the global market, was 120W. However, some prospective fans may not mind in the face of an alleged display refresh rate upgrade to 144Hz.

This new screen is also now tipped to launch as a flat (or 2.5K curved) "eye-protecting" panel with "upgraded brightness and color depth", even though it may also have a 1.5K resolution. The "K60 Ultra/13T Pro" may also support Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

It may not follow in the 200MP main camera footsteps of its forebear - however, again, this just might not matter should rumors of a new 50MP "IMX8-series" shooter as a substitute pan out. Accordingly, the K60 Ultra may just emerge with the specs and features to match the claims of its new MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ silicon.
