allah damn it, i knew i would regret purchasing this phone over the Redmi 7... should have really taken the lower spec'd camera and processor just for the microUSB connector.... !@#(&%)!(@*^%(!)($)_$#*()#$^*&_!#&%

5 years on and the USB-C fiasco still hasn't been properly addressed... and now i got to start a new USB cable collection...

I think i will just order some USB 2.0 ones from aliexpress and call it a day seeing that this phone only came with 10W charger and make sure i do not purchase anymore USB-C product for at least another 5 years... hoping they would have a better fix for their fiasco...

If I not wrong even in market dun have really good qc4. 0 charger.. U dun see tronsmart, anker etc make one.. Think the tech not stable yet.. Even for most qc or raid charge in mi9 also using qc3. 0 only

got, from razer, 40sgd, also it's not a true QC4+ charger, it's 3W shy of QC4+ power ratings

cable purchase separately, so add ~20sgd more for a 3.1 cable

that's the problem with qualcomm pushing the "new tech" in less than 5 years...

market adoption is naturally slow and with the hardware manufacturers still having stocks of QC3 chargers, why would manufactures produce QC4+ chargers when only a handful of phones have that tech.

those high powered USB laptops come with their own chargers and cables, so another group of users that won't be purchasing the charging tech...

next upcoming fiasco will be the "5G" hype and xiaomi is already stirring the sh1t pot with their "Mix3 5G" model.

huh but redmi 7 don't have quick charging mah! why would you prefer the redmi 7 over this note 7? My impression is that the redmi 7 is the basic ass entry level.

Also anyway, has the redmi note 7 come across as a good phone? Thinking of getting it for my parents.

redmi 7 don't have qc, redmi note 7's qc cannot use, so there is no difference at the end of the day, out of the box, both redmi 7 and redmi note 7 charge at the same rate.

to use the feature, you need to spend another ~60sgd separately purchased compatible hardware.

if you are getting the phone for your parents, i recommend the 7, chances are your parents won't miss the difference in camera and processor and you won't have to purchase new cables for them.

it's decent mid-entry level phone with a premium phone feel due to the glass back. but both the redmi 7 and note 7 will feel the same way in hand.

No infact quite many phones from end of2017 onwards support qc4. 0 already.. Those sd845 phones and many 6 series and 7 series sd cpu.. Just that I believe many coy still see qc3. 0 potential and try to make it faster 27w,40w etc..

i won't call 30 phones as "many" especially if you compare it to phones with QC3 tech

also... your "many 6 series" is not really many, and the 7 series are brand new to market and we are only just seeing phones with the 7 series SOC

617, 620, 625, 626, 632, 650, 652, 653, 665, 820, 821 are on QC3

630, 636, 660,670, 675,710, 712, 730, 835, 845, 855 are on QC4

I think the issue with the QC is that phone manufacturers, unless when you purchase their top of the line models, don't include the compatible charger during purchase.

this in turn gives end users that purchase a phone with QC4+ a dilemma; out of the box, i get a 10W charger, do i pay more to purchase a QC3 charger for an extra 5W of charging power? or should i pay even more for a QC4+ charger?

and honestly, with the battery capacity and power consumption of the SOC's, your phone should last a day's use. If your phone battery can't last a day, then you should take a hard look at your phone usage and learn to put down your phone more often for the sake of your health
