Ever since this current distributor took over the rights to the brand, products have become ridiculously expensive, the markup in prices is just too much. They open so many Mi Zones and Stores at one go, sometimes I see there's not much crowd in the stores in the West area. Plus the "promotions" they run in their physical and Lazada stores are sometimes a joke, most of times throwing in free gifts like earpiece and powerbank to phones purchases and justifying it's more worth it than slashing prices.

I find that prices were lower than before for new phones as compared to when there were 2 local distributors. Or maybe prices have gone down overall now.

I feel that it has been the same though, hardly see the prices being slashed often at the physical stores and the online stores run by them. The Xiaomi Official Global Store on Shopee has become my current choice to get the products from given their lower prices of products across the board with local warranty although shipping takes a very long time.

Just my two cents though, I do miss the Xiaomi at launch back in 2014, all online platform and range of OEM accessory bundles, bought Note 3G and Note 4G from the flash sales. My first Xiaomi phones.

The launch prices for new phones are lower already compared to when there were 2 distributors.

Prices get slashed when clearing old stock whether in store or online.

The Xiaomi Official Global Store has much more items than local distributor.

Lazada has flash sale on Redmi Note 9s (6/128GB)at $288. Some more with free gift (Don't know what free gift though). Do check regarding warranty though, don't think it comes with local warranty.
