I'm actually wondering which nationality you are referring to (so that I know what to avoid in the future).

I think it depends on your colleagues. You could have a French bank in Singapore but full of Indians in it. It is not going to be like working in Paris. I know a bank called Credit Agricole. Shitty work culture. They behave like a factory. You are suppose to tap in before 8:45 and tap out after 6:30. So 9hrs 45mins of work day. I heard UOB, OCBC, Maybank, CIMB all shitty work culture. UOB is the shittiest of them all.

My best experience so far was at Credit Suisse, absolutely loved that place. Barclays too is nice except for the hiring and firing. I like the Swiss, British and the Dutch. I don't like the French. 2 French banks I have come across in SG and not a nice experience in both.

Some banks are vertically integrated i.e. you could be directly reporting to someone in New York or London with some members of the same team in New York and some in Pune or Poland and Singapore, these are the best banks. Then there are some banks where it is almost entire Asian hierarchy until very high up and then that guy reports to a global head, these are usually shitty.

You think UOB is the shittiest bank? Hahaha. You should try BEA. I don't think any bank in SG can beat BEA in terms of shitty working environment. Not even remotely close

Barclays my favorite firm, fantastic employee benefits. Unfortunately management sucked at implementation and money kept getting wasted on silly projects and other nonsense.
