Refurbishing My 2011 MBP

I have a 2011 high end MBP that is not really in use now.
I intend to use it as a source for music, using iTunes or Jriver.

I will be sending to swop out the current 768Gb HDD, and either get a new 1TB hybrid drive, or a 500 SSD.

First question:
Which is a better option for music ?

Second, if I have downloaded a bootable USB Yosemite created on a 2010 iMac, will I be able to install Yosemite using this USB on my MBP or must I D/L Yosemite specifically on this MBP?

Third:
Can anyone recommend a shop to do the Hard Disk upgrade?
Any idea of the costs of the 500 Gb SSD or the 1TB Hybrid?

1. Depends on how fast you need the system to boot up. Actually if you are not using the DVD drive much. Why not swap it out to a small 128gb SSD PLUS a 2TB HDD?

2. Yes, it will work

3. DIY it. It's really easy for the HDD. Even the DVD drive replacement to a HDD is easy. Price of a 500GB Samsung evo off amazon is about USD$170. Hybrid, im not sure as I was never interested in 1. A 2TB Seagate slim cost USD$89 in amazon.

Thanks, I need to retain the drive to rip my songs.
Will decide on HDD once I get a new iMac Retina - hoping they will refresh the series.
Then I can free up this unit for music alone. I like the fact that it has a Firewire for my HDD.

2011 mbp shd be easy to access
