Regarding electricity usage for my PC

my dad complained that this month bill shoot up by almost $100 . i want to know whether is it my PC causes it .

Spec -->
*usage is about 1pm - 6am

hope someone will help me with this :)

play high intense game all the way? also have to depends on your usage pattern?

Most likely it's the increase in tarriffs, and your PC could not be the major contributor to it. Other major contributors are the refrigerator, airpot, aircon (ie those whose main job is heating things up or cooling things down).

U see, the worse case-scenario for your PC's power usage is as follows:
(625W/1000W) x 17 hours x 31 days x $0.2670 = $87.94

And that's really the worse case only. Most cases your PC only uses 300W or less.

thank for your help , mod . so i am suppose to spend roughly 42.20 per month if it uses 300W :)

300W only for gaming hours. When watching movies, the PC would use about 100W-120W, but this depends on the movie resolution and bitrate. For reference, when idle, the PC will draw 70-100W, depending on power saving features.

Agreed... it means the power consumption is even less, and less likely to be a major contributor to the bill. :)

If u have a laptop with low power consumption with hdmi capabilities, maybe can use that for drama/movies.

Some people have mini itx along with their full tower desktop for this particular reason.. Dont need high spec just for a simple job.

I saw on bios my duo core used to be at 60+ degrees. Now i changed to quad, it shows 40+, so i guess the newer parts are more energy effiicient.

No. You need to use hardware to measure. Cheap, commercial Kill-a-watt type of devices can give an idea of power drawn off the wall. However, these devices are not entirely accurate (different from being precise). You will need industrial grade devices (>>100 SGD) to get truly accurate measurements.

Note that this power measured is different from the actual power consumed by the components inside due to PSU (in)efficiency. FYI, the available power wattage stated on the PSU is that of the power that can be drawn from it by the components, not the power drawn from the wall.

Yes and no. CPU temperature is a function of dissipated heat by the CPU, heatsink dissipation power, internal chassis temperature (linked to chassis cooling capacity), ambient temperature, and even the interface between the CPU die and the IHS (see the Ivy Bridge TIM issue and CPU lapping). CPU heat dissipation is only one factor among many in determining CPU temperature.

U'll be surprised how much power PCs need nowadays...

when on full load while gaming my rig sucks as much electricity as an airconditional..

let say if PC shutdown
main plug turn on

speaker , monitor , Pc , charger socket was on but not in use.

electricity bill got charge for that anot ?

Why would you be charged for electricity you are not using?

PC off (not on standby), wall plug in, wall socket power on: 0.5-3W (dependent on PSU model). High quality models will be better. Usually less for monitor.

what i mean is like . PC shutdown .
wall plug on which consist of speaker, monitor , charger .
will they charge me on my bill for on-ing but not using ??

What display monitor are you using?
You have to factor that in too.

For example, a >32" TV would definitely consume at least 200W.
high end monitors like U3011 consume ~150W
