Regarding final year top up degree

Hi,

I have a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic and have some doubts about the course below.

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Top-Up) | TEG International College


It is a final year top up and I just need a local diploma to enrol into this course.

What is the difference between this and the degrees offered by SIM?

Both are degrees and objectively speaking, there is no difference.

However, subjectively (i.e. in the eyes of HR and hiring people) there are differences.

The reasoning behind the 1-year degree is that under the UK system, our poly diplomas are equivalent to their foundation degree level, and students there would take up "top-up" degrees to make it a full undergraduate one.

However, due to the stigma of distance learning qualifications and the purported short time, somehow these top up degrees are not so popular here.
