if i wanna get the 5GB plan for the Tab A (2016) with S Pen, i need to pay $29.90/mth + tablet top-up of $15/mth and up front of $298, am i read it correctly?

U r right buddy. Better off getting sim only plan, $20 for 3gb plan and get this tablet elsewhere. Currently only super stores and SES carry this model at $498.

Best denki had 8% rebate over the weekend with free 32gb card.

Still waiting for smaller resellers to carry it at street prices.

i was intending to sign up for sim-only plan at $20 for 3GB, base configuration from singtel. but the admin and sim card charge adds up to quite a sum of money.. still contemplating..

Grab the 12 months contract for free sim and reg

or wait for roadshow, sometimes they throw in free sim reg even for no contract commitment.

but the former is the only choice if you are going for the 1 for 1 data deal. 3gb isn't that much tbh

but if u ain't those heavy data user or constantly streaming shows on the go, or gamers who played online games on the go. 3GB is still some how more than enough.

exactly.. 3GB is sweet spot for me, considering its only $20, plus with free incoming calls and sms. the rest never add on is fine for me...

i don't want a contract, so i rather wait..... LOL

yeah for that matter it looks like m1 is cheaper. but hor I'm also looking at the quality of data traffic.. I have been asking around about m1's quality of coverage and speed, it seems like it's by far lagging behind singtel in terms of coverage.

my friend and I were together for one whole day, and we went around town, took the train for both underground and above ground lines, went to popular places etc, m1 does perform better in some areas but in general, Singtel has a better coverage indoors and outdoors.

I don't do speed tests on a mobile line because it's pretty much wasteful.. so my friends and I did a test on loading websites using same browser and same phone model. when one phone loads a Web page faster than another one, obviously one is slower than another.

now I'm actually willing to compromise quality with cost, m1 seems the most affordable but I just have this hesitation to plunge into a contractual line.

perhaps I can try out circles.life first before committing into m1 mySIM..

my m1 prepaid card signal is faculating from time to time in indoor. some time can get full bar some time 2~3 bars. but outside at least can get 4~5 bars. west area btw.

Bars don't mean everything. For some handsets bars just plainly show the strength, but for others it take account into the signal quality, including if the network is crowded or not.

If you don't see much differences between 2-3 bars and 4-5 bars it is good enough.

CL is based on M1's network, so it is most likely the same as (or weaker than) M1's network. That also applies to M1 Prepaid compared to M1 Postpaid.

I'm aware of it.. but CL allows me to roll data through referral and that the reg fee and sim card fee are lower than m1 itself.

I shall do another comparison on pricing and conditions again before I plunge in..
