Reinstate ACCA for CA?

Hi folks,

I am graduated from ACCA more than 10 years ago and having a comfortable and stable job now. I did not renew my ACCA membership for sometime as I do not see much help for my career needs. Recently, I came across the ISCA website and noticed that ISCA now offer CA membership route to ACCA graduate without the needs of practical experience/training records.

I have never worked with the ATO before, although I have been involved in finance, accounting, and tax roles since graduating. It seems I now have the opportunity to obtain CA membership. However, I have some concerns about meeting the CPE hour requirements and paying the annual fees, which may not offer significant benefits in return.

The primary advantage appears to be the ability to use the CA designation after my name, but I wonder how many professionals actually do this. I have worked with several highly qualified individuals who are likely CPAs, CAs or PAs, yet they rarely display their designations in emails or communications.

For now it's probably just the title, but maybe one day when my job no longer stable then at least the designation can beautify resume a bit. The current ACCA to CA route is applicable until March 2028 only so it's also kind of FOMO.

For CPE hours, as long as you are willing to pay, you can always find some courses to attend. If you do not want to pay, you can go to ACCA's CPD site and search for online events which will award you a certificate after your attendance.

At the moment, the combined annual fees for both memberships will be around SGD1k, so you need to decide for yourself whether is it worth paying.
