hi all,

just want to share that I had my driving license 20 years ago, and had not been driving since.

recently went on a refresher course thru a PDI - Mr Loh found from a website. He turned out to be quite good. Elderly man but rather patience. The thing I like is he allowed me to venture onto busy roads on my second lessons with him.

On my second lesson, pick up at Clementi MRT, I drove from there to Tanah Merah --> Chinatown --> Bugis --> Geylang --> Paya Lebar --> Upper Paya Lebar -- > AMK and back to Clementi.

Third lesson, I was driving on PIE, and learn roundabouts.

This is so different from a PDI I engaged last year, also thru website. On the first lesson, I was only marking rounds in a small carpark for an hour. Thereafter my package price was forfeited because it exceed the booking period of 3 weeks : (

Bottomline is... better to check with the PDI on how he plan to teach you, then you decide if it is worthwhile to continue with that PDI.

he still teaching mah?

Hi, I'm currently learning private 3A. Can anyone advise what's a recommended no. of times I should practice in the circuit before my TP? I'm afraid that I don't have the time for sufficient lessons to learn the circuit before my TP - haven't gone in yet and my test is next month :( Atm I've learnt parallel and vertical parking, and the stuff on the road, so really just left with circuit I think(?)

Btw can someone also please tell me if there's a minimum or an average no. of lessons before you take the TP?

Kinda anticipating that I won't be able to pass on my first try. My PDI went ahead to book my TP so early into the lessons, not sure if he's over confident or I lack confidence. Oh and can anyone tell me what's the procedure like to switch PDI or even switch to BBDC? I'm considering to do so if I really fail.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for a PDI at Ubi who can speak English and is patient with first timers. Has anyone ever tried getting PDIs from those sites (eg. ledrivinginstructor, idrive, etc)? Are they reliable?

best not to find from websites type one if possible.. get referrals from ur frens better.. at least they learnt from those PDIs before and know the character , attitude, etc of the PDIs.. online one is like just a big question mark no matter what the reviews say (after all the reviews could be faked)

Can try instructor from Cathay Driving Centre in Bedok. He's name is TKK. I learnt under him previously, first time pass. He uses diagram and pictures to teach parking and etc.

Hi, I'm looking for a PDI in east area. How much does Mr TKK charge you? Any pick up? :)

hi guys, how much is the rate they charge u normally ?

for private instructors ~

$30 per 60 mins or $45 per 90 mins on peak hrs, $28 per 60 mins or $42 hours on non-peak should be reasonable.. add $30 to go into circuit sometimes.

But my PDI last time quote me $250 for test alone without any warm up  does anyone know whether that price is reasonable ?

my pdi also quote me 250 for test , i bargain till 200.

on tp day

200 (car) + 30 (circuit) + 64 (1.5 h warm-up +.5 he wait for me for tp test) = 294

for now tp test should be 250 - 300 market rate. anything more then 300 is considered ex for tp test payment on the day to pdi.
my 2 cents

so 30$ for circuit is for 2 hours (warm up + test ?)

if like that then shld be ok for mine I think (my 250$ is include everything liao, circuit all everything except for warm up).. cos 250$ without warm up, if got warm up then maybe add 45$ for 90mins, no need for another 30$ for circuit.. if not very ex sia :(

the sch website put use their car for test is 208$, that one nv include warm up or got ? anybody frm sch know ?

I passed on my first attempt nearly a year ago. Totally agree with skatyboy. Mr Chow is a nice guy and a good instructor. He didn't scold me when I almost caused him to have an accident even though he was wheezing away. Instead he nagged a little then crack a joke to cheer me up. Think he charged $28 for off peak n $30 for peak. The only downside is his side mirrors have a switch that can be turned down. Helps you to pass easily but not good when you drive another car that doesn't have the function.

May i have Mr Chow's contact? :)
