Hi, can anyone recommend me a good private instructor in BBDC? Please help.. i had spend a lot of my money on my driving practical with this current instructor.. he's quite good and patience instructor but my bro 4th times than pass.. a lot of his student will only pass in the 4th attempt.. but he kept on postponing my TP date ask me to cancel or don't turn up for my TP on the date.. my TP is coming next wed 25 Nov.. and now he told me maybe need me to postpone again ask me to go for few more lesson and he'll see how is it.. For everyone inform i had postpone once on september 2009 already i don't wish to keep on postponing my TP as my pocket having a very big hole cant be mend already.. had over 30 lesson from him already reaching to 40 lesson.. i really hope i can go for my TP as soon as possible.. some said because im not ready for my TP but if im not ready for my TP my car will keep on stall and will keep on nearly met on accident but i never.. really hate it keep on take leave.. i feel so sad that my TP keep on postponing.. and is it every instructor will purposely drag your time?? he only taught me parking 3times, U-turn once onli.. in this whole 30-40 lesson.. and circuit only twice..and when i told him to teach me more in circuit and u-turn he will always say that don't worry i'll teach you one but in the end just go the same old route every lesson..

my galfren's instructor not bad. u can find lots of private instructor at the back of bukit gombak mrt station..

my gf took only 11 lessons and passed her TP in 1 attempt

Sorry to side track abit.

Those who have taken TP, how much does your instructor charges u when u rent the car from him to take TP??

Is it a must to have warm up lesson b4 TP??

How much does your instructor charge you when have to use circuit??

Hope to get some answer to avoid becoming carrot head?? hehe..

Thanks in advance!!

my gf's TP for that day cost $188 [an hour of lesson b4 TP ($28) + car + insurance]
the warm up timing is usually meant for school learners to warm up on the car that they will be using during TP.
cos private some will ask u have an hour lesson of revision as ur warm up before TP

Hi,

Thought I should share some thoughts.

Both me and my brother took under the same instructor at BBDC, Mr Chua and passed on our first attempts. He also teaches at CDC (Ubi right?).

He charges $39 per session of 1.5hrs, toyota vios. For my TP, he charges nearly 200, all inclusive - If Im not wrong, it includes, warm up in circuit, car rental and TP booking fees for the test day itself etc. I had been through circuit 4-5 times throughout the length of the course (extra lessons at my request).

Im quite anal about my instructor and spent quite a while looking through the forums and statistics. Initially went to school, but the school's adminstration pissed me off. So I decided to do it private.

Not that my instructor require any more ads- cos his schedule is full and he always has a waiting list of 3-4 students, (I was on his waiting list for a month) but personally, I think he's really good - he keeps track of your lessons, note your PDL dates (I heard of instructor who kept the student's PDL and booked test only to discover that the PDL had expired!), draws you pictures on how your car should move for you to gain a greater understand, passes you a map of the circuit in BBDC and highlights the various error-prone spots.

All the traits of a responsible, well-informed instructor who does his homework and due diligence.

He's also very patient though sometimes could be a little too naggy.

Anyway I had a great time learning from him.

Okay, pm me know if you want his details.

p.s I heard next year, there will be no more guide poles for parking next year. Good luck!

2nd lesson, the instructor slept and snored in the car! nearly got into an accident.

then she changed to another instructor and also changed to auto [she is scare of manual alr].
the instructor which is way better than the previous one.
they[as in the company] teach manual too.
but nt sure how much they will charge u..
u wanna try?
can try calling Mr Ong, [pm me for his number]
he will arrange u for another instructor / he teach u himself.
those instructors at the back of bukit gombak mrt.

btw, best of luck for ur TP tml.
hope u will get a gd tester like my gf's tester
haha! she nv check blind spot for 1 time ONLY, and the tester nv minus any marks but just remind her

just like ixoric 's instructor.

my gf's instructor also draw pictures to increase understanding and gives u circuit map.
and he also know tat some of us go for private as it is cheaper.
their company got mini circuit as well.
and he ask u drive there 3-4 times [depends on ur learning] - $5 per entry.
but sometimes he will talk a bit too fast or he will talk on the phone while u drive..
cos he is very busy with scheduling his students.
he will make sure all his students will reach the standard before TP's date

Just finished reading all 25 pages in this thread... Seems like there's not many manual car private driving instructors for BBDC testing that have been recommended.

I was with Albert Yap from Woodlands Driving School for 4 lessons before I quitted. Hope this serves as a warning for whoever is thinking of enrolling with him. Standard enrollment fee of S$50 and charges S$39 per 1.5 hours. In my 4 lessons with him, these are what he did to piss me off :

  1. Watched a portable TV while I was driving.
  2. Read newspaper while I was driving.
  3. Talked on the phone for 50% of one of the lessons while I was driving.
  4. Told me to, but didn't tell me how to, U-turn until I asked and he took too long to explain until I was already U-turning.
  5. Wasn't clear with some of his instructions.
  6. Likes to scold. I didn't pay you S$39 per 1.5 hrs for you to scold me, ffs.

My younger brother was learning with him also. He told me that there was once, he waited until my brother reached the chevrons before telling him and forcing him to turn left.

Damn angry sia. I'm now actively looking for a new instructor for BBDC, if anyone can recommend. Thanks. :o

:s13: Com'on. It's common even for school instructors lor. Read newspaper, snacks... :( So siahz....

but come to think maybe they just want u to be confident in urself. let u know u can handle the vehicle even w/o their guides. of cos lah, dun think silly thing like going to hit other cars or what. generally when driving, safety is the key factor.

But i got this mischef prank on these instructors before. Brake harshly or mount kerb to let them painful their cars. For once i did that. :D Kena naggings since he quite nice, but i got that mischievious idea popped out from my head when he was reading Today "happily". He turned to me looking shocked after i mounted the kerb seriously =:p. never mind the nags, at least i sabotage him. ;)

Maybe zuldevil should have ur sweer revenge first before quitting. Anyway, u won't be learning from him later. :D Good luck to ur finding on a better instructor. ;)

Sorry, jus me & my michief pranks. Hope it will liven up those who have terrible instructors at the moment. :)

Yah, awesome, isn't it? Reading newspaper is one thing, but watching portable tv?! Okaylah, both equally dangerous since he wasn't keeping his eye on the road while I was driving. I almost wanted to scold him, but I just let myself boil inside only. :x

Does anybody have any contacts of BBDC private driving instructors who are good, patient and won't scold/nag incessantly? I know some ppl say it's not about making friends, but I'd rather learn with a happy heart and pass at my own time, rather than learn while being angry all the time. Not good for my soul lah. Haha.

I'm taking manual... I'd rather get some feedback from the instructor's current/past students, instead of just blindly engaging another instructor... Waste money and time, you know. :x
