TAKE NOTE OF BAD INSTRUCTOR

Hi all,

Just wanna warn people out there of a private auto instructor from SSDC, namely LING CHENG SOON (Rowland Lim). He drives a Toyoya Vios (Gold colour) SGV6308. I found him from le driving instructors website and this is definitely the worse decision i have made in my life. He is very unprofessional, very vague in his instructions, always making excuses, always cancel class last minute, rude, and always scold his students. I really wonder why he is able to keep his rice bowl until now. Never once did he taught me how and where to look when im doing parking.. Even before my TP test. Engage him at your own risk.

Recommended PDI

Just wanna recommend my PDI (CDC Ubi) for anyone who is looking for one:
Mr Ivan Tan
9667 6769

He teaches class 3 (auto) and is very patient, gives you feedback on your performance during trainings and advices you on how to improve your driving. I'm female and I passed my test this morning which was my 1st attempt :s12: (he has many other students who also passed on their 1st attempt), therefore recommending him as he is a very reliable PDI - and speaks english as well!

Many think that it's more difficult for ladies to pass their test on the 1st attempt but I believe that it's through effort and having enough confidence in yourself that leads to success - I went for lessons despite the wet weather and having to work in the day.

Good luck learners :D

Whats the market rate of learning with Private? I called a few for after office hours lessons for my partner. All are charging 35-40/hr and enrolment of 70-100 (some ask for additonal 1 lesson deposit)
Circuit additional $30+, test rental with warm up all around $400.. :s22:

Hi, I have a total of 3 Driving instructor and finally I found a patient instructor. He is a god send and he does not show attitude and good pride in his teaching. He teaches auto car and pick up at Ubi. He teaches refresher course too. His number is 97471813 Mr Yap.

BEWARE OF THIS PDI

I am currently taking Class 3A lessons with this PDI, he called himself uncle ang and has a blog that advertises his services, number is 91504550. Engage at own risk, if you like someone short-tempered but not thorough in teaching.

For the first few lessons, he was an alright PDI and willing to teach. However, you will notice that he will talk on the phone constantly or watch tv on the car when you are having lessons with him. He doesn't emphasise on safety check (important note! this is important for TP test). He talks a lot and sometimes take up a bit of your time to buy food or talk to his friends while he go and take the number for circuit lessons.

Note: he is impatient and fairly easy to jump into conclusion that you are blaming him or accusing him. Very short tempered! And he has a tendency to verbal insult students (me) in a roundabout way. Beware if you prefer a more professional and quiet PDI to teach you.

He will always change your timing, sometimes at the very last minute and it could be difficult to change your plans.

As I lost details of the payment from my first test, I asked for a breakdown of costs of the expenses for TP and he refused to give me a clear amount of which portion is paid for which part of the lesson/rental. Note: I paid an extra $50 for warm up that he requested and he asked for another $272 for warm up session (again?) and rental of his car. I tried asking him what is the previous $55 for and he just scolded me and say I am accusing him for cheating my money. :vijayadmin: And insulted on my physical appearance and then tried to laugh it off like nothing.

He screamed at me and scolded me brainless (he does that during lessons too but anyway!) and insisted I paid for the amount he stated.

I did pass my second attempt at TP but all because my first tester were very detailed about what to take note of and I have been looking through my old bbdc school manual for practical training to ensure everything is in check.
